Just bought a Pacemaker and want to catch fish!

Hi a couple of mates and i have just purchased an old 18ft pacemaker with an early 90's two stroke 90hp merc swinging off the back and now we are looking to catch some fish! We want to start reasonably close as we dont have heaps of offshore fishing experience and an older setup. So the question is where do we go and what do we do? Im not asking for your secrets i know how hard earned and closely guarded they can be! Just some tips for getting amongst it and hopefully snagging a few arm stretchers. The boat is kept in wembley so we are looking at launching in the river or hillarys mainly but we re open to suggestions!

Appears to be lots of snapper being caught lately, don't have to go too far for them. Keep an eye on reports/brag board, should get some ideas of where people are catching

Don't bother going out without a good sounder and GPS. Spend the time getting good spots on the GPS

Cheers guys whats the bait of choice for sound snapper? Do we look for channels or bommies? You generally drift yeah? An whats the tricks for squid? I've got a good selection of jigs from my kayak based efforts but have never done boat based
