Just realised what that's for

just purchased a rule  2000gph bilge pump for my boat & just realised what the plate between the hull & transom support is for. To mount your bilge pump! Now to bring myself to drill the hole for the outlet...

Idealy want to put a riser in

Tue, 2015-02-10 06:44

Idealy want to put a riser in the hose as well - that is take the hose above the outlet around 3" and then come back down to the outlet (upside down U in hose) that should prevent any reverse siphoning.

Make the outlet nice and high

Make the outlet nice and high and you won't need to worry about siphoning. Any bilge pump will easily lift to just below rail height. Run it out the same side as you drive from so you can see when it stops pumping, rather than backwards out the transom. It can't siphon if it isn't underwater.

If you are putting a float

If you are putting a float switch in, make sure you wire it up so the automatic switch doesn't run through the isolator switch.  you want the float to work even if the battery is isolated (ie when the boat is at mooring with no one on board).
