Kayak sounder

Im looking to fit a new echo sounder/fishfinder to my kayak and i dont know where to start i would like to know the best sounder to fit my kayak under to $250 and where and how to mount the transducer to my kayak.

all help is much appreciated

i had the pirahna max on mine,followed by the pirahna max colour,ver good on a yak as they are quite slim.

mount the transducer inside the hull (midships is best as it is always lower)using selleys all clear.
head unit on mine is between legs just before feet, best to play about with position to see what feels best for you
i use a small dry cell battery to power the sounder,also mounted inside the hull,one charge lasts ages,
