Around that time of year you won't have much luck as you would have missed the run off and the water temperature would be cold for that time of year. Generally most barra are caught between October - May, but you will get the odd one in the winter months.
Should be plenty of Mackerel around if you head offshore, and you should be able to pick of plenty of demersals off the bottom. Creeks pretty much shut down during the winter months...
went out with Hairy Dogs charter, but it was Black Dog that took us out. Told us it would be slow as it is cold, but we ended up with 4 Barra between 2 off us on the boat.
Only did a day charter out of Kununarra but I recon and overnighter at the camp would have been fun as it is a nice setup, and the blokes like hairy Dog and black Dog have interesting personalities. Make sure you can cast or hairy will eat you for breakfast, and dont try and out drink black dog because you WILL fail miserably.
Offshore I am sure as jay said you would bet into Fingermark, Mackies etc etc.
If there is a man that can catch you barra in winter its Hairy Dog or Greg Harman if you want to be formal. His right hand man Black Jack is also a very capable guide and would cringe at the thought of being refered to as Black Dog! Cheers.
What part of the kimberley are you refering to, as it's a huge place and the fishing varies in different parts. July in Broome is good for Sailfish, Marlin, Mackerel, Tuna, Threadfin, Mulloway and all sorts of bottom bouncing species and there are a number of charters operating to cater for the different species.

Fishing isn't a sport.....it's an institution.
