Hey guys,
Bout ta start organisin my first gero beach fishin trip and been readin up on it a fair bit and finding out there is alot of different species of fish are available up here...
Has any one got any tips on the best "all round" beach rig that i could set up and send out to the big ones and cut down my chances of a bite off or a strike snap???
Any advice would be appretiated.....

dont know specifically about
dont know specifically about gero, but my usual beach rig is like this
mainline------8heavy swivel(150lb)---------leader60lb+--------0running swivel--------GG 7/0 circle snell
on the running swivel, i have about 50cm of lighter line than leader attached to a 6oz snapper lead/grapnel. the lighter line is so that it will snap off before your actual leader, meaning you have more chance of getting the hooks back. never had one snap on me.

rigs for gero tailor
Depends where your fishing ,beach, off reefs etc,
but over 20 years fishing in the area, just about all my big tailor have been taken on baitcast rigs,ie no sinkers off the
table top reefs up that way.
I use big gardies or sauris ,and can cast them off reefs into a sea breeze.I have used just a standard
sliding star sinker rig for mulloway ,in behind s bend area, and got a few.
last time up ,no matter what the tide , i was only getting good tailor right on dark, 15 mins earlier
even at that pre dark gloom about 6.30, not a touch. Then just as night fell ,bang they hit like no tomorrow.
3 nights in a row that happened ,so dont give up until after dark.
Learning a new area involves loosing rigs mate, thats the deal. The way i see it after fuel ,accom, food, beer
bait and your sanity convincing the missus that a week in " calm" gero is better than anything else
a few lost rigs , sorting out your areas is nothing, good luck

Dude
Simple
60lb plus (flurocarbon leader)
--------------------------(3-ways swivel)<--------------------------3/0 4/0 Gangs
-
-------------------------- Star sinker
Its pretty much what everyone uses of the beach for tailor and mulloway in gero and surrounding area. 12-13ft beach rods and big surf. You could also drop the 3-way and but a running sinker before your gangs also. And obvioulsy mullies as bait and abit of majic string (ghost cotto/bait mate) never hurts ;)

i personally much prefer to run heavy fluro, because you will still manage to pick up sharkies and toothy critters with it.
