Head to Israelite bay, 200kms east of Esperance.....thats the start of legendary landbased pinky fishing! Nothing better than catching pinkies off the beach, sitting round the campfire having a beer!! The further you head east from there...the better it gets.

Quobba

Word has it that there has been quite a lot of them caught in the last 2 weeks from the Blowholes north to high rock.A couple of blokes stopping in the caravan park here were complaining they were as thick as blowies down south and that they couldn't catch anything but pinkies

I can imagine your frustration

Personally I dont know how land based fishos do it... dont get me wrong, its great to pull up on a beach and wet a line, but not constantly....save for a boat mate, you wont look back.

pinkies in cockburn

Sun, 2009-08-30 16:13

i get sea sick from boats and i have tried all myths about pills what to eat before and wrist bands and all that. that is why i had to turn to Quobba fishing to feed my addiction to the sports. but i would still love to pick up a nice pinkie or two in between trips. not many boat fishers get snapper either though. even with a boat there is alot to learn gefore you get one. and those charter fishos saw 16 people catch 3 snapper per boat.

When it comes to Quobba

Sun, 2009-08-30 17:08

When it comes to Quobba south wall always has pinkies, use a single hook with a ball sinker running down to it to prevent getting heaps of snags, there are heaps of other spots there which consistantly have pinkies. If you want locally it's all about wind direction in my opion try fishing on northwester or the days after has produced the most landbased captures for me and put the time in

Occy

Occy, cuttley, squid or fresh fish fillet or anything that is going to stay on the hook.
Usually best around an hour before and after high tide.
Some people use 50lb mono from a swivel down to the running ball sinker and 4/0-7/0 hook
