Submitted by snapper_seeker on Wed, 2015-04-29 08:52
Just after some advice on a rod to suit my saltiga 4k for land based lure casting/light ballooning and throwing sinkers to 6 ounce probably looking at anything 8-10foot, price range is under $400 and don't really want a shimano rod. Running pe3.
cheers

Have you had a look at the Blackhole Cabin II - Monster? Might be a touch light for what you're after, rated to cast 100g

Same dilemma
ive been going through the same search after my last trip south. I'm looking at upgrading to a 4500 saltiga with 30lb braid throwing metals and poppers for anything from salmon to tailor and mackies up north and I've narrowed it down to 4 rods
daiwa seajigger sj325H
daiwa demon blood 962h
ns black hole cabin 2 monster 10'6
nitro rockstar 10ft
ive seen the seajigger and the demon blood in action and they're both great rods and I've heard good things about the ns and the nitro. They're all similair I guess it's just down to preference but I'm leaning toward either the demon blood or the nitro at the moment.

The Jigging Master Shore Game
The Jigging Master Shore Game 9'8 are an awsome rod for landbased, iv been using the heavier model with a saltiga 4500 for a few years now and love it! Though these are around the 600 mark, they also have a cheaper version the Ocean Devil which is around your budget. The lighter model is rated to PE2-3 and casts 85grams a mile.
Also have a look at the Assassin Shore Game rods, have heard good things about these.
The demon blood 962h is almost perfectly suited to a saltiga 4000 and an awsome rod for casting metals off the stones all day.
Whereas the nitro rockstar I think would be a bit too big for a 4000 size and I personally dont like the NS monster, seriously under rater rod!

ns blackhole cabin 2 monster
ns blackhole cabin 2 monster $330 dollars from fishhead.com.au (was free post when i got mine) They rate these pe5 but as above there more of a pe 3 rod, battled big macks off the stones with it and never had a problem. Ive got a demon blood as well also an awesome rod but like the ns better for spinning and would be better suited to the 4000 reel (daiwa reccomends a 6500 for the demon blood on there website but there more suited to a 4500/5000 if you ask me)

As above the NS spin range
As above the NS spin range is second to none in my opinion. I have the Black Hole Seabass Final Monster (N962) and its a great all rounder. Its rated a little lighter than the Cabin Monster (80g) but stiffer through the middle I found. So you wont be casting 6 oz with it but hook into anything of size and these sticks have the grunt to skull drag in a whale. There is one model up in the range which is the sea phias i believe if you really want to go bling. I have mine paired to a 5000 Stella and the balance is ideal. I have dropped down to a 3012 Certate but its a little light.
