Was down in Yalls over the weekend, plenty still around. Went over to windmills looking for a wave on saturday after surfing at Yalls early doors - nothing doing so had a wander along Bunker bay and there were good numbers of small schools as Matt says. Ended up just sitting half away along the beach between the cafe and central reef and just waiting for them to swim past - sling out a lure and hold on. Would have hooked up on ~6 fish in 8/9 passing schools over a couple of hours. Exactly the same on Sunday when there was no surf what so ever. Got chatting to a couple of blokes who had pitched up at rocky point and reports suggested it was all good there once the swell had dropped. I did find they were smashing the diving lures rather than sticks or metals.
Sat up high at yalls watching some reasonable schools go through on sunday and monday morning (was as clear and clean as Ive ever seen the beach, absolutely stunning).
Was down on the weekend just for a day. Was loads of blokes fishing with muelies and lures but none had caught anything, I asked around and gathered there wasn't many. Caught a few hezzas (bagged out) put one out live and had a hit emidiatly. Managed a big salmon one cast later but was quiete. Had a school go by but none were hitting lures. Maxi
hi guys as greyheads1 said plenty of small schools most of Sunday .It was a late start as I was recovering from that great win by the pies ha ha yes the pies so 11am start it was .We fished hospital reef and caught a few live hezzas mulies and twisty all good then the boats came around rocky point and sat right on the reef .What happened to 400m rule of the coast . .???? Saw a nice bronze whaler following one school which the kids thought was awesome . The kids had a ball and one of my mates caught his first second and third salmon so that was a great highlight .I did also hear people getting some over the Cut in Bunbury also.
Hi pedro I was there Sunday, on the small reef on the left of the bay, and walk down to the boats which were casting at schools within casting distance of 70g twisty's. Didn't get anything though. We lost two and landed one on the reef.
schools were about 1 every 2-3 hours and the herring went mad, eating every lure even big 6 inch plastics
What 400m rule are you referring to? Isn't that only in regards to water speed limit?
I do agree however with boats not being respectful round the area. Saw some people being silly at the end of school holidays. They were in the corner of bunkers, with a large number of boats in the small area and sitting just outside the break. If a larger than normal set had come through it would've been interesting.

Yeah Pez
plenty around. Personally saw 100's of fish in smaller groups (only 1 large school) over the last week on the west side.
Biggest trouble we had was getting them to hit artificals. Saw heaps caught with smelly bait.
Seems to be alot of spooked fish around atm.
Fishos/dolphins/seals/sharks/boats all giving them a flogging might explain it.
This next batch of foul weather should get them going again.

Fish everywhere at the
Fish everywhere at the moment, most people make the mistake of driving around looking for them.
Pick a spot and stick to it the fish will turn up.

Yep,
that 400m rule (some areas indicated by yellow markers) regards an 8knt speed limit, it's not a boat fishing exclusion zone.
The only NO BOATING zones are the swimming zone near the old Duns boat ramp, A section of Castle bay and Meelup (from Gannet rock to Sail rock.
This problem happens every year and not just Bunkers, some Boaties just don't get it.
