land based snapper blood bath
hey all took my grandson and his mates fishing to a land based snapper spot i know (no matter what time of year of condtions we always get a heap but i try not to overfish it) as they were sick of catching sharks. Sorry about the pictures the boys were too busy to be able to give me the individual shots to post up ! i will get individual pictures off their phones later when they come home from getting bait at woodies.
We took 18 snapper altogether (fair few boys came) but these are just pictures of mine,my son and my wifes and lost 14 snapper to sharks as well and also got a gummy, some skippy and some tailor. This is metro if anyone is interested but i wont give out a specific location as it has taken me years to find a spot with no people and a reliable catch ! it was not north mole haha. The boys ran out of bait and were not happy with what we had at the time snapper wise so we filleted a snapper for bait (yes it contributed towards our bag limit) and it worked better than any bait ive ever seen before. Ill try an find the rest of the pictures but for now i hope you all enjoy!

You have to expect and accept peoples scepticism, a good night/day in the right conditions in perth and you are happy with 1 snapper LB in Perth Metro waters. You guys caught/sharked over 30 in one sitting!
Personally what makes me skeptical is the amount of fish you lost to sharks. I've been fishing for quite a few years in perth, and have never had a single fish sharked from land, let alone 14 in one session. Then again I have never caught 14 snapper land based in one session.
Really it can be one of two scenarios here. Either you are talking complete BS, or you have found the absolute honey pot that thousands of anglers have never thought to fish in perth metro water that happens to hold an abundance of large pink snapper.

all the boys were blindfolded and I gave their phones to my wife until they wanted pictures, pictures are not going to be uploaded due to the things I've heard about people trying to ping spots off some of the iPhones etc (I'm not sure)

What kind of a lesson is that setting for the grandies? So you took 18 snapper, im hoping you had at least nine people along, but since you lost 14 to sharks im really hoping that there were 16 of you to be able to take those fish as 'part of your bag limit'. Should we be teaching the younger generation that its ok to fish while losing nearly one fish to sharks for every one successfully landed?
'The boys ran out of bait and were not happy with what we had at the time snapper wise' - how many snapper did you have at this point? How many snapper would have made the boys happy enough to quit fishing knowing that you had killed the pig? Stuff like this makes fisherpeople look bad and gives the greenies ammo to use against us. Sure if you had enough people there its all legal but for crying out loud how about implementing some self restraint.

But mate it is because catching that many snapper is unheard off in current times, and then land based. I have caught 30 (might have been more) odd snapper (mostly u/s) off the back of a boat in Shark Bay cubing up and then letting a fly sink down with the mulie cubes (all released). But that is Shark Bay and some years back. I have no proof off this as it was before good digi cameras and I did not have a esky full to show off. It did happen but can be perceived as b???shit by anyone.
I dont blame anyone for questioning the credit off your story, purely because it is hard to believe. And then to add sharked which in metro waters also is hard to believe. Even just one sharked is unusual.
Also we have been subject to the odd False story and trolls so proof is whats needed. However I wouldnt care what others thought if it DID happen, its just bloody unbelievable.
So keep posting, but when it is an outlandish effort proof is in the pudding.

This story is awesome to tell kids for bedtime, but if an adult actually believes this well...i cant see how they can.
I was at albany for salmon this past salmon season when the run came it was just flick and hook constantly and every flick.
then the shark and rays turned up and even with 2 sharks at 2-3m and massive damn rays the whole session of 5 hours only 2 fish got sharked.
losing 14 snappers to sharks well...makes a good reading and a lovely fishy tale.
