Large Open Water Tiller Tinny - what have people got?

Hi all - Merry Xmas and all that stuff.

I currently have a Qunitrex 2016 F390 with a 2016 Suzuki DF20A with a few custom mods. When purchainsing the tinny I had all the intention of puuting it on top of the camper - however  circumstnce have changed and sold the camper .... I also have the F390 for sale. I want to up size - quite like the tiller style steering. Looking for a deep vee Hull with good stabilty at rest. I have been quite surprised at the size of engines that are tiller steered and am intrigued on what a 50 -70hp 4st would be like to steer in this configeration.

I am after something from 4.2 upto 5.6 - with some degree of under floor storage and with deep sides.

I enjoy going out and chasing Snapper / Dhuie in the open water as well as huinting Black Bream and mulloway in the estury / River. I know there is always a comprise and you have to pick the weather.

I need to be able to launch / retrieve / handle it on my own - not after any bling - just functionality.

I have been looking at the following models:

Savage 445 Safari - 50 Etec

Savage 525 Safari - 70 Yamaha 4st

Quintrex 449 Magnum - 60 Yamaha 4st

Stacer 429 Outlaw - 50 4st

Does anyone out there reconmend or have experienc in these or other models / engine packages.

Any advise is most welcomed.

Have a safe a happy festive season - tight lines to all.......

if you've got some loot to burn check out Quintrex 500 Hornet trophy. Nice bus that would tick all of those boxes.

mako truck

had one when I was up north.
Awesome boat.
see the fellas at dinghy world Como.
you can order the 5m truck with 100m higher sides, splash well and bowrail.
I had a 90hp tiller steer Honda 4 stroke on and was a jet to drive.
had 2 good pedestal seats at rear for seating, had a custom made small side console put off the side in front of the drivers seat to house plotter, compass and sounder.
underfloor fuel tank midships-60lt(if I had my time again would have made this larger) and right up to the front had a hatch to 2 battery's underfloor- this helped balance the weight with 2 people in the back.
I just kept a big icebox in the middle of the boat that was good for sitting on when fishing.
Also had 6 aluminium rod holders welded into the gunwales.
a drop down full size dolly wheel on the trailer meant I could launch it any where and retrieve with a rope or winch.
Very safe boat and rode out some very rough conditions.
An idea for you anyway, good luck mate- feel free to ask any more questions. merry Christmas

New dinghies are so over priced for mine. Looked at that option before buying Hezzies dinghy but just could not justify it. It's an older Stacer hull at 4.1m, but with the mods I've had done, it works for me.

Nice boat Jarryd, but at 27.5k, that's just ridiculous.

Seajay

seajay make good tinny hills, both pressed and plate.

I have a seajay 475 magnum. It's 5m overall, 2.1m beam, and is very deep (around 1m from floor height). I had sides and gunnels welded on by wakemaker marine, and upgraded to a new 50 mercury 4-stroke 2 years ago.  it's fucking bullet proof.

Nearly all all of my fishing/diving is done from this, and forum members can attest to the catches I've made from it! We regularly go 15 nautical miles out in it, just pick your day. Did an Exmouth spearing trip in it in September, where we were running to and from north murion island in it every day, over 40nm round trip each day. You can get a bit wet in it, but that's no issue if you're diving, we just suit up beforehand. A decent/commercial spray or wet jacket for any other days where it's going to get rough, sorts me out when I'm fishing.

I've downsized recently to a 4.5m stessco catcher. Very solid with extra ribs and floor as standard. Powered with 40hp tiller it gets along well. Just did a cray season pulling 6 pots per session out back of the 3 mile and it handled the shit mornings great. Can be pretty wet though. I'll be looking at a bigger bow rail and clears shortly. Look them up, good value for money.
