Launching at Lancelin
Submitted by beeroclock on Tue, 2013-06-11 10:12
Ive always wanted to dive / fish the Key Biscayne but havent had a descent size boat to do it till now. I hear its a beach launch that can be a hard retrieve, any tips please as I havent been to lancelin in a few years and wanna go out of there. Its a pretty heavy 19ft fibreglass voyager, got a Pathfinder pulling it Cheers Dave

I used to go out of Lanno
I used to go out of Lanno quite a bit until.....
I lost the winch handle off the trailer one day and had to winch it on with a shifter. While I was stuffing around with that, the trailer wheels sunk into the sand with the wave action. Eventually got it out with 2 4WD's and 2 Snatch Ropes.
Ideally if you have a drive on trailer you could keep 1 guy in the car inching it back and 1 guy to drive the boat one, too easy, I was with my 80 year old father so not so easy. Max Trax or similar would be the go I think, park the trailer on top of them while launching and retrieving

worse
beach is usually worse at ledge
use the search function beeroclock I saw some threads discussing the beach launch at lancelin recently.
As for most beach launches some mesh under the trailor wheels and max tracks under the car rear wheels are a good precaution, another vehicle with a snatch strap is handy too.
nearly lost my car at moore river a few years ago its a bad feeling sinking

Third wheel, snatch straps
Third wheel, snatch straps and a well rehersed drill will make for an easy day.

Have seen a cruiser with waves breaking over the tailgate and gushing out the front doors as he desperatly tried to get his car and boat out. They used a tractor and that kept sliding forward so I tied my cruiser to his tractor with a snatch and then bogged the shit out of my car to use as a anchor. He then just got it out.The car was a write off. Pretty stupid IMO just for a fish Fark that
