Ah yes, the Leeuwin ramp.For
Ah yes, the Leeuwin ramp.
For the record I wrote a letter of complaint to the Town of East Fremantle regarding both the hourly rate, which im not sure about now but at the time wasn't capped (e.g. $8 p/day @ Mindarie) which made it the most expensive ramp in the Metro area and the fact they removed the tap fittings from the derigging area which we only found out late in the night upon returning.
In a nutshell I can advise everyone that
1. The town council doesn't give a shit that ppl find the cost over the top
2. The town council doesn't give shit that people need water facilities
3. The town council doesn't give a shit that ppl pay charges and rates for the small requirement of a functioning tap
4. The town council couldn't give a shit about anyone's opinion.

Tossers.
Agree , lived in east freo for 7 years , got pinged for very very minor things a couple of times , with them being very pedantic, but I took it on the chin.
Then when I had a couple of geninue complaints against a builder that was out of control, damaging a wall , blocking my driveway with pallets of bricks etc
good ole East Freo council totally didnt give a f2@k ,,,,,,,,,,
A lady next store took a horsefloat off there 4wd that was parked legally on the street so they could put ute in there driveway to load gear , and no longer
than 5 bloody minutes passed when a parkie turned up and started writting a ticket for the horsefloat.
They explained they would be another 20mins and would rehitch and leave ,,,,,,,,, he gave them the ticket, sighting some bullshit rule
about abandoned vehicles or trailers,,,,,,,,,,,,, welcome to east freo folks.
I live in lake coogee now ( name just changed from munster) and cockburn council are great.

City of fremantle makes a
City of fremantle makes a majority of there money via parking...most councils it's rates but not Freo.
All workers just took a 20% cut as Freo is empty leaving a big black hole.
Very shallow ramp...prick if you have a high trailer...$4 and hour from memory.

Different council Brocko, it's owned by the Town of East Freo. There should not be any shires or town left in the metro area

Lol one of the guys who lives on the river in east freo has a home made boat ramp. Basically 2 scaffolding planks he just drags them a across the rd over the rock wall then just drops his dinghy in there, he goes out daily. Now I know why he doesn't use the ramp 500m up the rd

Leeuwin ramp fees
we should not be paying any ramp fees, boat licence, is over the top, also pay road tax on our fuel, when we are not using it on the road, we have to lobby our pollies about this, also apeel to the East freo shire & the chamber of commers, who reprisent all buisnesses in the area, tell them you have know intentions of sending any money in the shire, while we are paying high ramp fees. cheers Don.

If you live in East Freo (as I do) you can get a parking permit for 50 bucks a year; which seems very reasonable.
Haven;'t applied for mine yet, so shout if I'm wrong!

Can confirm the permit
Can confirm the permit includes parking fee! It's only for the one combination of car/boat/trailer (although the windscreen sticker doesn't specify the trailer/boat rego) - all the info is included in the Boat Ramp Parking Permit Application form of the city's website

So a quick search of this
So a quick search of this shitty council shows there are about 8000 residents, give or take.
If just half of these fell for this ridiculously shameless money grab that would equate to a net revenue of ~ $200 000. Nice.
Add the additional several hundreds of thousands (if not over the million mark) for paid parking by visitors to anywhere in the council and you begin to wonder why this appalling 2 bob town council couldn't even have the courtesy to provide a solitary functioning tap at their exorbitantly expensive boat ramp....
How's that for " very reasonable" ?

This and other tinpot
This and other tinpot councils like Peppy Grove and Cottesloe are the exact reason that Barnett was so gung ho on amalgamations. There should not be a single 'Town' in the metro region letalone a 'Shire'

Have you ever attended a council meeting and see how it all goes with the executive and elected members? If you're that concerned then get to a meeting and voice your opinion.

I deal with L.G on a weekly basis. Have done for 16 years and am well versed in how they operate.
As a non resident its not really acceptable to attend a council meeting although I'd be welcome to put my opinion/questions in writing which I did if you bothered to read my original post.
As we were saying, they draw millions in revenue but refuse to have a functioning tap at an expensive boat ramp.
Do you have an opinion on that ?

That was my point, go lobby
That was my point, go lobby them.
Maybe the reason there's no tap is that flogs keep vandalising it or leave it running. I do contract work for the City of South Perth and every ammenity they leave out or try to provide gets arseholed by the local scum bags. Local residents complaining that there's no light at the new BBQ's installed at a park because drug fucked scum bags make it their meeting point. You really need to think why there's nothing there for your convenience. anyway I couldn't give a rat's arse as I don't use that ramp any ramp for that matter.
And as a point of interest I have a very good friend who's a councillor who's heart is in her job that she's been elected to do.
It's pretty easy to shoot from the hip and call them all a pack of wankers.

I've been in LG now for 12
I've been in LG now for 12 years and WALGA before that and I also established and sat on the committee of my suburb's resident group so have come across many, many councillors across a number of issues and from completely different perspectives including community meetings, council meetings, working groups and advisory groups.
The best ones are always the ones that come from a community group background as they generally don't (heavily) align to a major political party and (generally) have the community's best interest at heart. Sounds like your friend is one of those.
The problem with Councils are that they are heavily populated with Liberal and Labor wannabees and single issue Crs who think they are more important than the percentage of the Ward who actually voted for them would indicate. The absolute worst ones are the ones that run construction companies and then seek to sit on JDAP panels... say no more on that subject.

I'll dig out the letter but
Sea- Kem I'll dig out the letter but I'm pretty sure they simply stated it was the council's right to have the tap there and whether they wished to cover the cost of usage.
So a more pertinent question would maybe be why are there functioning taps at public amenities all over the metro area as well as say free gas bbqs and children's activity areas etc etc yet a council that derives millions in revenue from rates per annum choose not to have ONE functioning tap at a boat ramp people pay a fair wack to use.
And for every well-intentioned councillor like your friend I'll raise you say 3 ior 4 ncompetent ones that are only their for self-interest and status.

Whilst I get your point Pesc
Whilst I get your point Pesc that perhaps they should provide a tap as a part of the service at the ramp( being expensive ), its not something I'd be getting my knickers in a knot about...
The last thing I want to do when i come in is hang around any longer than needed at the ramp...
I have a tap at home, I actually have a few and whilst i'm using the tap I won't have to worry about having to talk to anyone...
Surely that comes down the list of must haves at a ramp...
I think its bollocks that any of the fucking shires charge a fee anyway...

The crux of Pesc's gripe is that there are taps there and they've shut off water supply to them after recently increasing the parking fees from $12 to $16.
They were never much good anyway, hardly enough pressure to flush the outboard.

We found out at about 2 in the morning when coming back in.
Surprisingly I have taps/sponges/detergent at home but I'm not sure the missus or neighbours would have been happy if I cleared the outboard out and washed the boat down at that hour right.
And let's all not forget that we're discussing a functioning tap
Hardly a huge request by any boat owner to a local council..

So you don’t think anyone lives within a km of the aforementioned ramp? Just flush at home when you wake in the morning the motor will be fine

Hahaha wow...
How do I put this. It's a boat ramp that may be used 24hrs a day, any day. At boat ramps there are derigging areas that may be utilised 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. People pay for the privilege of these amenities.
Are you the type of person to move to Redcliffe and then put a complaint in with the local council about incessant noise from aircraft's at all hours or would you be the type to buy a house that backs onto a pub and whine about the noise coming from there.
Or are you the person that buys the house on west Coast Hwy then moans about the seabreeze.
Thanks for the laughs lol

...oh and before I forget, would you be ok with us launching at say 11, 12 at night or would you like us to row our craft out so we don't disturb locals that have chosen to live close to a public boat ramp ?
Any suggestions are welcome.
