Life during the ban - What's your new target species?

It could be a long couple of months, too long not to fish - got to wondering what everyone else will be chasing...

Cheers

stripes go very well in the smoker....kind of like ham. I understand in AUS they seen seen as a tag and release, but after living in kiwi land the 3 years, stripes taste pretty bloody good

Local kiwis were gobsmacked when i told them i released my east 125 kg stripe on jig, even as a trophey they thought it should of been gaffed. Mind you i killed my first blue live baiting, and i wouldnt hesitate killing another one if it appealed to me at the time.

we have released  a blue or two, that were near death, and even after a hour reviving it it was still 50/50. I look back and sometimes question whether this was the right decision

I probaly wouldnt kill one again, unless it was near death or for a compeition these days.....

Little blacks are very tasty.

Little blacks are very tasty. Quite comparable to Wahoo.
My first died at the boat and was eaten. More sustainable than taking an old demersal too.

Crabs flathead and mullaz in

Mon, 2015-10-12 07:02

Crabs flathead and mullaz in the Swan, popping for YFW down Mandurah and heading out of Halls Head to chase those 35cm sand whiting. Apart from that just got myself a Furuno sounder so gonna start finding some ground for future reference and have a crack at jigging for sambos and chase skippy on my 1-2kg outfit.

Set up and hard wire two

Mon, 2015-10-12 07:50

Set up and hard wire two batteries into my camper to remove the need to physically lug the bastards around.
Paint the deck of the boat
Build a cubby house for small lady of the house
Finish the kitchen for big lady of the house
Service all of my fishing gear
Seriously weed the gardens.

most of those things wont happen though as Cray season starts soon, and whiting taste delicious also.
