Anyone got some successful options .... would save me hours of wading and millions of casts to be pointed just a lil in the right direction...

Mandurah Estuary
I must admit not having done a lot of fishing in the esturay itself. I normally just scoop for crabs in there and fish the deeper sections from the channel banks. There is good spinning in the tribuaries of the Murray and Serpentine. I would imagine some good spinning from shore near the old bridge. Use the tide to your advantage.
There are some good spinning spots from shore around Falcon also (beach side). I have landed many Tailor and Soapy Mulloway in that area.
Your very lucky having moved there. It's a great ecosystem and there are options for all forms of fishing. Don't forget about the fresh water options available in the hills not too far away from you.

Freshwater Options
If you check out Google Earth or just any map of the Peel Region and the areas around Harvey you will see the dams. Most are seasonal stocked with Trout and there are massive numbers of Redfin Perch. Lures are the only options down there other than flys because it illegal to fish any other way.
If you are into popping then Halls Head has some great water as does Falcon (Merlin St). Use the white wash as that's where the Tailor hide out. Baitcasting Mullies is also very effective in those areas.

try on the western side of the estuary near some channels close in. or if you dont mind wading out the z bend markers are a good option too. skippy in that area too.

Getting young fishos started
Hey man i had a ball ....
not because i caught three herring on slices intended for Tailor or that on my second cast i hooked into the type of herring that most would dream of ..... well it looked big to me ...hehe =]
Nar i wanna share with you what happened to this young bloke that fishing near me ......
he first came over and sussed out me bucket ... his name was Ryhs and not more than 12 years old ...... and i told him id only just got set up and was hoping for some action ... nothin in the bucket but told him that its probably worth a go ..
10 mins later he was down there with his rod and tackle box ful of poppers he uses on whiting .... impressive cous at that age i could only thing of squid for that caper ..... .
now after my first casts i showed him what i was using and promptly hooked that herring on the second cast .... man was i stoked ..... he was having trouble with some weed ....
Releasing the herring i helped with his rod and found his reel was very close to death ...
Told him to grab my $400 outfit and have a crack ... loving the action he was able to tempt a nice wrasse ... ON A SLICE .... i was impressed ..... we switched to baits when we figured there was no tailor keen on taking lures ...
Anyways he gave me back the rod and reel and i just looked at his poor reel and wish i could have given him mine ..... i have many smooth low end shimano reels that id be happy to give him .......
WOULDN'T you .... so told him about this site and hopefully he joins .... if you see him online ..... give him some direction and i look forwrd to passing down a nice reel for the lil bloke to pursue his passion with ....

Well that gets me kinda
Well that gets me kinda emotional heh.
Props on the sportsmanship though i must admit. Yeah, the estuary there is pretty loaded with herring, also seen some big skips pulled up as well as salmon trout. occasional whiting and some pilch running about. I think best time down there is around sunrise to just before lunch, then usually picks up in the evening again closer to the cut pylons of the traffic bridge. in the evening, i havent seen much apart from tailor and herring. There's always another day, maybe next time stay away from youngens that might show u up lol.
