Some of my friends have bailed on a dive for crabs and prawns in the river tonight, so im looking for a buddy. Send me a pm if you are interested.
Probably try to meet up around 7:30-8:00 at the carpark at the bottom of the hill.

Vis was pretty poor
Went out with Matt(Hlokk), for his first night dive and it wasnt a good one to start with, but we both did ok. Took us a bit longer to find the wreck ropeline, but when I did find one, I discovered there are multiple lines down there. The one we were on didnt go past 12mts, and at one point we went in to 6 mts. I pulled us up and took a punt to head deeper where we found another line. We carried on until our agreed turnaround and were helped home along a gentle current to such a degree that when I thought we were home and we came up to 5 mts for our safety stop then surfaced we were just past the carpark at the coombe. Pretty happy for that in the conditions.
The good: when we could see there were _heaps_ of undersize crabs. Heaps of flatties, cobbler and one small flounder. Prawns are getting better and heaps of mantis prawns too.
The bad: we often couldnt see, and only saw a few large crabs. I got the only two I saw and I think Matt got one that was under. A couple of other blokes headed towards chidley pt and came back with a bag full of absolute donkeys.
Im diving there tomorrow morning for tafe and will have another look, but I think next week I will do Blackwall Reach for a change.

Hanging for a few river
Hanging for a few river dives, but want it clearer for filming. Was the vis above 2 metres? Much suspended particles?
Cheers Pete

Patches of up to 3 metres
But in other areas it was hard to read gauges/compass etc. You could see them comming like a storm ahead and same, you could see it clear as you went out of it. Sometimes it was 30 seconds of kicking and peering at compass with bottom disorientation and then it just cleared up and you could carry on again. I couldnt see or feel anything that would make it go like that and as we were the only divers who went left I dont think it was stirred up from people.
Going again this morning at the coombe, mapping project work but at least I get to keep an eye on it every week or so.

went last night. crap vis but
went last night. crap vis but i'm used to it as i go every thurs. once you get used to it it is divable. deeper (+10) seems to be more murky. definitely must swim against the current where possible to but thats pretty obvious
