Lowrance HDS 9 gen3 combo price?

 I'm purchasing a hds9 gen3 in the very near future  (tomorrow) and I was wondering what you have paid for the same system, Unit with structure scan combo? And if you have seen any sales anywhere?

Best I've seen is Whitworth marine

Hds7 gen3 with 83/200 & lss-2 $1599

Hds9 gen3 with 83/200 & lss-2 $2699

Is the hds9 worth the extra $1,100? have you found the 7"screen big enough? Or are you glad you spent the extra $$$... will be used as a plotter down the road.

CheersCheers in advance.

Get the 9"

Fri, 2016-08-19 21:04

I paid just shy of $3000 for my hds9 gen3 and yes it;s worth every cent.  I love it!  The difference between the 7" and the 9" is phenominal.  Get the 9" if it's in your budget, the extra 2" sure makes a big differance.  I use mine for GPS only and have auto pilot connected to it and I can't speak more highly of it.  I use furuno for sounder though, much better sounder than Lowrance in my oppinion.

iPad

Anyone using the new HDS units with an iPad on board? I figured you could save some coin by getting the HDS7 and connect it to an old iPad via wifi for a larger screen. Obviously a weather proof case and the ability to charge the iPad on board would be required also.

 Always good seeing sounder

 Always good seeing sounder pics  I'm midway rewiring my boat, including duel batteries. The original wiring was messy and had earthed the boat. I'm no auto sparky but what I've done so far is 1000000% better!

 Oops stuffed those calcs up - they measure diagonally but ration larger is nearly the same

It should be

7inch = 20.9 square inches

9inch = 34.6 square inches 65.3% more screen area
