depends on the fish you are
depends on the fish you are after....
i jumped into the lure game not quite too long ago and i got a ridiculous bloody collection right now....
I tend to find, if you are going to go river fishing, use SP's or Berkley Gulps...
for hardbodied lures, id go for the halco scorpions for now....
as for sambos lol i think i would be targetting the other river species first with ya lures hehehe
go for your bream and flatties and depending on where else, ya flounder and your other stuff...
YOur local tackle store should be able to help you out but yeah, i found that my lure collection grew when fishing in the ocean :P
ps, get yourself some metal slices too, halco twisties or the raiders, snipers, knights.....
keep in mind though when you start getting heavier lures, that you must pay attention to the weights of them, the line strength you have and the cast strength of your rods.
My mate has lost many a lure/popper on casting lures slightly too heavy for his outfit...
i found it quite entertaining when he casts and i hear him scream obscenities and i turn around and the lure is still flying through the air rofl

for bream i rekon river 2
for bream i rekon river 2 sea baby vibes, scorpians, and crawdads also get a few soft plastic minnows
youll prolly catch sambos as a by-catch while flicking softies around claremont so dont worry about targeting them, also get sum snapback softplastics otherwise youll be spending alot on softies due to blowies, and i wouldnt worry about metal slices for the river at this time of year wait until it warms up a bit :) hope that helps

Lures, Lures and more Lures....
Well mate lures are one of my fascinations towards fishing. I look at more like the profile of the lure and see what it really resembles, so I often go to the river and take a good long look for any baitfish activity or whats ever is in the water before I head towards the local tackle store. I find thats Snapback Softplastics is one of the compulsory plastics for the river as you would be mauled by blowfish. With Samsonfish I rather target them during summer as you would be casting around Yacht Clubs in East Fremantle and Mosman Bay. So don't bother targeting them now as they be fussy on taking lures.
Heres a list of lures to take:
-Halco Scorpians 45-54 sizes in Trout pattern, Green/Gold and Bleeding Mullet.
-Snapback Softplastics in Green Baitfish. Leadhead jig size 1/3 oz.
-Berkely Gulps, Sand Worms. Leadhead jig 1/3oz.
-Berkely Bass Minnows 3".
-Atomic Grubs 2".
-Mann's Nipper size 32.
- River2Sea Baby Vibes in a variety of colours.
All the best for the future fishing trips!
Cheers.. Jangles
