I would go white poly/Perspex
I would go white poly/Perspex - anything dark or metal gets pretty hot in sunny K or P town!

just a tip
in the signage industry we use these products poly carb and acrylic/perspects bothe have con and pros
poly carb is incredibly strong how ever tends to change colour from the sun after a few years. white for example will go a browny
cream colour. it also comes off a roll and has a curve to it in large peices. also can warp from heat if it is not fixed down properly (expansion needs to be considered)
acrylic/perspecs is good for uv resistance and is very workable with basic tools
tends to crack becuase it is brittle. youll find this out when your drilling holes through it (probably the last whole too). watch you tube to get good results.
i personally would go for acrylic 8mm or so.

When I changed over my
When I changed over my electronics I covered the holes with a single piece of Starboard. Cut to size, used a router to finish the edges in a quarter round bead and then sikaflex to attach. Hasn't moved. I contemplated all of the above suggestions but this was really the only thing that I found that was robust and weatherproof enough for what I wanted.
