maria jig rods?

hey guys anyone used anyone of those new maria steady jigging rods???

Im after the 80-200G pe 2-5 for my saltiga 4500 with 40lb PE

But mostly the pe3-8 100g-300G for my 6500 EXP with 60lb braid taking yellowfin and marlin with some WA sambo jigging... Max rating is 10KG on the highest rod (this one) do you think thats enough drag?

havent used one before but have had a play with one when the rep brought some in, really nice rods, super light and they have a great action to them, another rod similar would be a smith amj 56m or 54h

I have the Maria Steady

I have the Maria Steady Jigger 80-200 and used it in anger for the first time on the weekend.  It was matched to a Stella SW 6000PG and PE3, and I used jigs between 100-180g.  We mostly caught AJs and kingfish between 4-6kg, with a few sharks making life interesting at times.

All I can say is that I was extremely happy with its performance, and couldn't fault it.  Unfortunately I can't compare it to any other rods in a similar class as I haven't used any.  As you would imagine it was able to work the lighter jigs better than the heavier ones, but it was still fine at the upper end.  I found the butt length very comfortable, and was able to put plenty of hurt on the fish.  I was running 5kg drag and it handled this easily.  You could have run more if you wanted.

I would recommend one if you are looking.

Cheers,

Simon

Maria rods

FYI - there is some video footage of the trip on YOUTube.  The Marias (80-200) are pretty obvious being blue.  There are 2 in use on the boat.  This should give you a good idea of their action.
