Marine Safety Pod

Upgrading my safety equipment including a Marine Safety Pod.

They look like a good idea having all safety gear in a waterproof container with compartments for flares, epirb etc.

Trouble is, my McMurdo epirb won't fit through the opening.

Not knocking the idea, just might need a little refinement.

Marine Safety Pod

I got one of these as a present. Not that it helps but GME epirbs fit in but it is a squeeze.

After seeing a couple of people hanging on to eskies for hours at a time waiting for rescue I decided to use it. Holds flares, epirb, handheld VHF, drinking water, rope, sunscreen, strobe, handheld GPS and some other bits of crap that might be handy while waiting for a shark to take my legs off.

am quite interested in the idea as at the moment I only have a grab bag......OK but could do better..

don't know much about the pod you are talking about but wouldn't it be better to have it strapped onto the outside anyway?

Grab bag in waterproof material

Also known as a dry bag........ Plenty of good ones around and easy to inflate and seal for permanent buoyancy .    I don't use one presently but thanks for the tip as it will now become a must in my boat

Looks like and feels like a pretty tough bit of equipment that could possibly save your life, definatly think the $200 price tag will keep a lot of potential buyers away though. After all it is just a big piece of plastic.

One of those buckets with the screw on lid, like a home brew tub, fit heaps of stuff in it, lid seals so they're completely waterproof.

BCF have 20 and 25 litre containers which do the job perfectly. The screw lid has a solid handle that you can attach a rope to.

Returned the $199 MSP and bought a $15 screw lid bucket as suggested.

Didn't save any money though, cos I bought a heap of lures instead!!!

Thanks for the input.
