metal lures single hooks

Does anyone know the why and where for of using 2 single hooks back to back or facing each other when replacing trebles? Not sure if they are more effective than one single hook.

Single hook will do. Never try back to back unless it is for belly hook.

Of you want to increase hook up u can't beat trebles.

If you want to increase damage to fish, You can't beat treble replacements!
Just run with the single for metals.

I often use an assist hook

I often use an assist hook (as in a single jigging hook on an assist cord) off the front of metal lures when fishing for salmon as I find it stops them throwing the hook as much when they jump (not as much leverage from the weight of the lure).  sometimes run one off the back instead - still seem to get plenty of hookups with both

Cheers
