Share the secret?
Then it wouldn't be a secret. I suppose you want the boaties to post their GPS co-ords also?

Get out and have a look, depends on what style of fishing you do. Look around for a fishy area and have a bash, if there's anyone else around may be go and have a chat with them. Than as you walk away mark the spot on ya GPS.

drain
Nearly always fish just south of the drain, like i said always a few tailor hanging around there and u get some small sharks like wobbies and that coming thru. Guess some people dont like giving their spots away but i dont see the big deal, plenty of room for us all to fish!

Not so much room when you all fish the same spot
Geee mate. Get a grip. I have spent a lot of years and effort finding spots as have a lot of people here I am sure. I have introduced some mates to some of the spots and all that does is to make me find somewhere else where there is not a bogan crowd. I invested in a good 4x4 to allow me to get away from the crowd because I like my piece and quiet.
As for "plenty of room" go check out the easy spots like the north and south molls. Tell me there is plenty of room there? Get real. I never fish the "drain" because a lot of others do and I can guarantee that at some stage someone will break into your car (if you own one).
OK so here are my favourite spots.... Generally I frequent the coast from Mindarie to Kalbarri.

If u dont wana give anything away then dont, just dont get wound up and have a go at me. Havent done anything wrong just asked a question, u dnt have to answer. Never ever had an issue at swanborne with my car or ute and fished there for a long time now, never see crowds of people fishing there either

Not uncalm here mate
If Swanbourne suits you that's great mate. Keep going there and I wish you good returns.
I guess my point is that this site is an information sharing site comprising of young eager fishos and the older ones who have done the miles. Us "older" blokes are here to help with all sorts but it's not what I consider appropriate to troll for locations. It is however a country of free speach so you are entiltled to ask but just understand that some questions can be, as I see it, cheeky. If you asked me where I caught my big fish in the pub I would probably wink at you and look away LOL.

Hip is great mate
and i should be out and about in the not too distant future. It's been 6 weeks now and I have tossed the cruches. Fuggin been getting this house ready for sale in spring has been a pain. So much to do. Missus busts her arse off at work and at home and I potter. Fuggin dog is driving me nuts. It's all good now albeit it pissed down with rain when the photographer arrived today LOL.

Truth be known
We are making a tree change. Moving 90 mins out of the city into a country area. Not Greenies but I was bought up and loved the country. I recon some older heads with corporate experience could work well out there. Why do we need to continue this coastal push? I can work there and still consult. My wife can commute and stay in the city a few days.
Fishing is always in my blood and I have options which include fresh water for shorter trips and who knows what for the seasonal salt water trips?
Big John will be pleased to hear that I am a natural hunter also so the bush provides some options... Just don't wear a Collingwood jumper mate LOL.
Sorry to hijack this post mate. Just enjoy your fishing OK and listen and learn. You sound like you are doing OK so far.

Metro LB sucks mate... Over
Metro LB sucks mate... Over spending the hours chasing some shitty tasting fish(tailor)... note like 10yrs ago.. and I only try for mullas now
TBH Metro shallow in a tinny almost sucks as bad!!! On a plus side I dont catch too many blowies... but trumpeter and butterfish take the cake!!! unless ya talking bout Warnbro sound, and juvi NW blowies are quite the sportfish!!
Theres fish around, but undersized or under the weather.. I only got back into fishing about a yr ago and have had good days and bad, good ones mostly offshore.. there was a time 10 odd yrs ago when October/November during a storm, a crazy fella like me in shit weather could go and cast off from Wells park jetty and get monster Snapper(yep its a closed season now, and with due cause that I will back up now to the hilt).. Now I just have to hang out at the Moles in Winter storms trying for the same...
Travelling away from Metro however proves fruitful normally!!! last trip to Myalup had me and the kids picking/choosing/releasing some nice sand whiting and some monster herring.. nothing touched the big gear unfortunately.. but thats life, and we had a ball

Id have to disagree on the
Id have to disagree on the tinny comment. I never go far from the same ramp in mine and since I bought it late last year Iv been able to cross off numerous species, inc first timers, off my list. I have improved my catch rate tenfold and never come home without a feed. Prior to the boat purchase, catching fish landbased was a bonus, now I just target a new species once Iv learnt how (and when and where) to catch the last. You definitly have your work cut out for you landbased, but if your dedicated enough and do your reasearch you can have success and these forums have plenty of good info (yes its there amongst the bs), chrisfish is a prime example

aint that the truth
that is the one thing that puts me of lbf if you are more than a dozen yards from your car you are putting it at risk i can stand not catching any fish, just enjoying the evening at the beach but coming back to the car park and finding a broken widow in the car and everything turfed out on the road really gets my blood up. i don't leave anything of value in the car and yet it still gets broken into i just give up on trying to guess what drives these idiots to do this stuff

Do you recon its not so much
Do you recon its not so much the beach or spot you are fishing.. but more the knowledge of how and when to fish it that is most important/critical in catching fish there.???
I know some amazing spots back home in NZ that have and do produce trophy fish. But you will all but zilch out at them if you arnt fishing them at the right times.
I just recently travelled up to quobba and onto Exmouth with a mate. We didnt do very well at all, didnt even manage a feed of fish for all our efforts. The spots we fished were well known and have accounted for trohpy fish. We just didnt have the knowledge for fishing them. Right place, wrong time maybe.
.... nothing beats finding a so called 'average' fishing area and learning how to fish it properly to get the most out of it. I think thats what you have been doing very well at Rig, good to see!

Yeah good point bungel.Tide
Yeah good point bungel.Tide is a factor, finding a reasonable gutter as well. For me Time of day I only fish early morning or as close to dusk and always do very well. Depends what you are targeting Skips and Hezzas I ALWAYS burley up from the beach and with cages. Tailor I have found right on daybreak or dusk. There are lots of variables so try and mix it up a bit.

Hi diddleySome good water
Hi diddley
Some good water you are fishing mate - check out the beaches from Swanbourne south to North mole and north all the way to Yanchep.
Yes, there are certain factors, time of day, water colour, water action, gutters ect, structures and wind diretion, but in the end it does not count have you have no bait in the water.
Some of my fav Metro spots:
Floreat drain
Pinnaroo Point
Oceans reef
Burns Beach
Quinns
Mindarie
Yanchep
Wilbinga - if you have a 4 x 4
Cheers and good luck.
Every day at the Beach is a Good day!
