Metro billfish.

Had some visitors today out wide.

First was a manta ray with some cobes following, then a nosey sunfish and finally a billfish of some decription rounding up mack tunas under the boat. Guess the billfish was 100kg plus and not interested in a bait or our spread.

Berserk day, the manta was cool, although his cobia outriders were a bit runty. Followed up by the mola mola then a 150kg freeswimmer chasing down a mack tuna!

Just curious, but what do you

Just curious, but what do you think that is in the pic under the sunfish? It aint the manta either.

Just for a reference, that thing was quite a bit longer than the boat is wide, not including the tail or bill. This one was only as wide as the boat and thats 100kg.

Had a jackson pintail ready, but it was never going to come up on PE3 so I chose wisely and left it in the rack.

We tried to switch it onto some lobbed baits and baits rigged on richter skirts but no love there.

Spewing I left the gun behind though ...

The second pic Goodz

Its not the best shot but i was nose hooking a bluemack with a circle hook at the time.  And identifying what type or marlin? I'll have to leave to the experts. When we saw it (as ive said it was hunting down a tuna)  its colours were jet black all over with bright blue on the tips of its fins.

Its a shame the marlin didnt want to play, would have been great to see it that close to the boat....
