We got absolutely flogged camping on Friday night, massive storm worked us. Has been raining on and off all the time in Exxy, very unusual summer and the humidity has been around 70% every day and unpleasant. Don't know if this cyclone will get up much steam, but looks to be heading straight for us.
went to a bucks party at gracies tav in exxie friday night ..yep yep surely pissed down for an hour or so .was hopeing for a bit more to keep me stuck in town ..but no .drove back to vagas saturday lunch time ...spewn
got some good fishing in ,,and good waves if only small ones ,,,water temp when fishing in the gulf was 31.5 c.took the dogs for a swim at town beach .it was farking horrible ,,must of been around 35c in the shallows .like swimming in hot soup
and the marlin season down here it was 1999 when Vance hit up exmouth.I just hope it was a once off as a few of my old fav dive spots have just started to look normal again just minus a few plate coralsI would hate to lose it all again.I think there maybe some hatches that need battening down.
Starting to look like another wet trip to Broome and Derby. I think I might pack a bottle of Jacks and a few steaks just in case I get rained in somewhere.
About to head off to work here in K-town, and it's looking like the best morning in months for a fish. It's perfectly still, sky is clear and it's really sticky , the calm before the storm.
Hope you guys down in Exxy get a break and it dies in the arse or goes out to sea, either way I think a trip to the Bottle'o is in order !!
I think it's going to just miss off the coast of Exmouth ( side swipe the place on the way by) and then turn south to kick Coral Bay in the guts, as the water is nice and warm coming down that way!
I hope I'm wrong and it goes off to the west and far away...
Not realy looking that bad. I have never seen the hills look so "clean" with all the red dirt washed of the vegetation. Was blowing a nasty little blow just before the all clear and it bucketed down. Have to admit I was a little surprised then when the all clear was given but a good call.
The boat must have had about 2-300l of water in it. Left the scuppers closed and then internal cabin bung out so that she would fill and stay heavy but it was a laugh opening her up.
hey all K-town, check out the weekend weather. Looks like a post cyclone fish is certainly on.
whats a worry as well, but not for us the movement of TC Anthony inland and into a wet and soggy Queenland by the look of it, also that TC Wilma is heading straight down to New Zealand as well and could hit Norfolk Island with some wild weather as it slides by.
I can't remember when last I saw three strong TC cells on one weatehr map and all heading south west.
Unusual and I am sure we have not seen the last big willy willy for the season. Agree bloody hot water to feed the monsters, and I am sure all will go to Severe TC's.
did a bit of searching and found we been hit almost every 10 to 15 years with a big blower coming south.
what is scary is the prediction of the cylones accelerating as they come south up to 70km/hr forward velocity ( not wind) vs the normal 10~20km/hr movement seen in the tropics.
There are 5 vessels inside the Carnarvon harbour and another 3 anchored outside waiting to see where it heads once passed Exmouth. Had to take the rescue boat out to bring a sick seaman in to hospital from one of the tugs that was too big to come in. They said there was as many as 15-18 boats coming down the coast last night to shelter here or in the bay further south.
with BOM and US Navy showing it coming to visit the big smoke of Perth by the 30th possibly as a tropical low, the question now is how much punch will it have left in the tank?
will it refuel on warm water off Shark Bay and get some more energy to remain a Cat1 when it gets to us or burn out and just be a big gail with some rain???
Seems I was right in that it could be repeat of TC Ned in 1989 that came through just south of Perth.
The big question is how are houses built since the 1980's that don't have the cyclone strength of places in the north of the state going to hold out??? plus will storm surges come with it??? if so hello wet floors in the canal areas.
I'm glad I moved to the hills

Silk I agree, its already changed to a Low. It doesnt look like we will get much although there is a bit of a breeze around so some gusty winds of a tropicl Low I think. As long as that wind blows in some much needed rain - pleeeeeeeaaasssse!!!
Drivin past hillarys an hour ago and pulled in for a look, the ramp finger jetties where a foot or so beneath the water. Also one car and trailer in the carpark still not in yet... fisherman1992 perhaps???
unfortunately QLD is going to get smoked by a possible cat 4+ cyclone TC YASI said to hit between cairns and townsville early thursday morning, but will affect between cooktown and yeppoon
Said to be bigger and nastier than the last major cyclone in either 2006 or 2008 TC Larry

yes you could be
yes you could be right!!!
almost identical to cyclone Alby's track down south! Bom 4 day shows it coming all the way down and being about 500km off the coast by the weekend.
USA tracking site predicts it a lot closer to our shores, more like 100~200km off shore!
mmm can see myself having to tie down the yard tomorrow if it comes our way!
Funny how the news channels etc have not latched onto it yet as a story with all the hype and scare that Channel 7 and 9 love to do!!!!

I'm still hopping it brings good thunder shower tonight. Tried the weather radar but both in Perth are down
Also now I got o go untie everything I tied down and move all the trailers, floats and cars back to their normal spots
At least it gave me a reason to clean up some of the cr@p lying around lol
