 Good stuff pinks on placcies

Mon, 2016-09-26 13:07

Good stuff pinks on placcies are wickid!  When a charter openly advertises the rape and pillage like jazz does pingers are to be expected especially when the season is a bit quieter than last. Lucky you and your old boy got the better of the fish.

How is it rape and pillage?

Tue, 2016-09-27 06:34

How is it rape and pillage? He is a licensed charter operator who advertises his business! Drew has all his own marks and farms his spots! If he didn't catch fish he wouldn't have a business cause no one would go fishing with him! I think you should get your facts right before bagging a business on a public forum! I don't see you bagging members on this site who fish within the rules and go out and catch lots of fish! Muppet!

My comment was directed at last years fish kill that everyone of us rec fishos felt the pain of and then this season every day he goes and parks out the front of the breeding grounds and rapes and pilages all the fish coming in to spawn. Thats just my opinion sorry if i offended. But everyone has noticed this season is alot quieter than last in my opinion ( only my opinion as silly or uneducated as it is ) the contributing factors would be the kill different weather and a massive boat collecting 30 big breeders every day as they come in to spawn i understand his earning a living. But its called fishing for a reason. Every other charter has to work for their money and head out deep and search for ground years of trial and error and still earns a living. Plenty of fish in the sea, just hard seein last years fish kill get forgotten about this season. Sorry if i offended or hijacked the post of two quality fish.

 Mate we don't always kill

Tue, 2016-09-27 09:39

Mate we don't always kill the pig with 30 fish but it's a powerful marketing tool when we do. We also fish along the FFB and around Rotto.

It's  easy to say  that we are the reason that the pinkies are slow this year by not fair.

I'd be more focused on the hords of amateurs that are out there everyday and I'm talking about the same people in the same boats.

Its been a good season for us but you have to work for the fish and when you do find a school you can't have it to yourself for long, as some people can't use a sounder and prefer to fish off me .

You need to understand I'm one boat and there are 100s is amateur boats catching a lot more than me. Do the math..

Tight lines ...

Jazz you are right to mention

Jazz you are right to mention the number of other boats out there its a shame that they have to follow a bigger boat to find fish unfortunately the Powerful marketing tool also work against the Advertiser in more ways than one!
Personally I don't target Snapper this time of year for the simple fact of they aggregate to breed, with the big loss last season I would hate to see what the current Biomass numbers in Cockburn are.

P.S nice looking fish there Scottland. I'm sold on the Halco Madeyes!

I wasn't pin pointing you as

Tue, 2016-09-27 10:49

I wasn't pin pointing you as the main reason im saying that after last seasons drama i feel that as a business you are in a greater position to say look folks this season we will fish out wider or for completely different species all together or catch and release charters. Your not breaking any rules and your running a business but those hords of amatures raised alot of money to re stock after last years kill, now on the other hand big breeders are getting taken at a pretty high rate this season its like giving with one hand and taking with the other. This season is a dramatic difference to last so whats next years gonna be like? Pinkies that breed in the sound have been caught at lancelin months later so this problem isnt just sound related its all over the coast. Ive put you guys in the firing line simply for the fact you guys are openly advertising and profiting off something that could potentially become a greater problem in years to come. All your clients leave happy and good on you for providing that, but at what cost. Just out of curiosity im probs outta line in asking this but do you guys log how many fish you keep in a season? Do you guys have a figure from last season to this season on catch rate averages? Is it down from last  season sorry if im being rude in asking.

Rob you claimed I take 30

Tue, 2016-09-27 12:03

Rob you claimed I take 30 fish per day which is far from the truth. We do provide a a class fishing charter in a fishery that I would say is growing from a amateur point of view not so much a charter one.

Our catch rates were down from last year earlier in the season. I believe this is due to the cold water temps. But would be on par now

As for the kill in the sound if the only found 10% of the fish that were killed on the beach it would equate to around 6 days catch in and around the sound at that time of the year. I'm hoping I'm right on that one. As for the unborn I can't say what the long term effects will be.

As we have the best managed fisheries in the world I'm sure it will be in there focus in Years to come.

It's easy to play the blame game.

I for one like to see your reports and picture please don't let it get to you.

Sorry again guys il keep my opinions to where they belong.

Awesome catches

Tue, 2016-09-27 16:31

Well done to you and your dad for a couple of solid fish. Many thanks for sharing the pics!  You and your dad didn't break any rules and neither did Jazz Charters.  Judging by the comments so far, 99% of them are in support of you and Jazz, so like what Grant said, don't let it get to you.

Eveeyone has a right to express their opinion but as far as I can see, no rules were broken..

A good day out for all involved.

Im fairly new to using plastics so not sure if they are all similar but ive been using the McCarthys paddle tales and the snapper like them but they get chomped apart in 1 bite. Might have to give some gulps a go and see if they are more durable.
