Hey all was going to get the kids IPADS for Christmas until that is we got ourselves one and they r crap. Kids cant do much on them other than play games :(
I need 5 laptops for them so they can do their school work as well as put in dvds/cd's etc.
They range in age from 5-8 and I need 5 of them.
I was looking at
ASUS F45A-VX040H Laptop
Is this one any good? Keep in mind they are very young.
Cheers all

That laptop looks good for
That laptop looks good for the ages, but if they want to play any sort of games that arent on the internet, like games that are on discs, then that will be an issue as the pc has only 2gigabytes of ram , but other than that it looks good.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

They need it to do
They need it to do Mathletics as well as reading eggs which r all on the internet as part of their school homework! As well as the other educational games that I need to put on them. Ie will only be putting on 1 maybe 2 max cd roms.
Yep they are young to be getting laptops however as the school system has now changed and most of their homeowork is now done via the internet they need to have their own laptop to do this otherwise they wont get it done :(

Not sure what $$$ the ones
Not sure what $$$ the ones you mention are, but my only convern would be screen size for kids.
I usually use PLE:

My son has one of the cheaper 15" models in the list and it works fine for him.

Stick with iPad idea.
Stick with iPad idea. Anything a laptop can do so can an iPad except printing (which I think there is an app coming for that at some stage). Mathletics and other educational program's can be downloaded from the net. I have a 10 and 6 year old. Maybe another thought would be to get them 1 laptop and 4 iPad that way the home project and printing can be done. The other thing you may need to consider is a wifi system that is able to connect the amount of devices you are thinking of using.

thanks guys. I ended up
thanks guys. I ended up getting 5 laptops. They had everything on them that I wanted Ie wifi Office starter (word etc) and the guys at harvy norman edgwater gave me ahuge discount when the guys at harvey norman joondalup wouldnt even give me a 5c discount, and the stores r on the same road 2 ks away from each other! Then we going to give the 2 year old the ipad 3 that we have as we find them to be utterly useless. Much rather stick with laptops for us!
So all in all it onlhy came to $2200 for 5 lappys with product care. and it was going to cost just that for only 4 ipads
Hope u all have an awesome Christmas and a safe new year x
