MUSSELS

Does any body here know how many muscles can be caught in the metro area. Also is there a size limit? In the past I have dived for them and caught roughly each time around half a cray bag full. They are all of a large size and very tasty. I went yesterday a matter of fact and cleaned them and cook them and then freeze them in containers until I need them. Also I ate a few raw which were awsome. Also the typical chilli muscles dish. Plenty around and I think I do the Marine Dept. a favour by getting them I reckon. Maintenace on there lines, hint!
Any help would be appreciated peoples

Max the daily bag limit of Mussels per person is 9litres. I only take the ones on rock or timber heard a story the ones on metal can make you crook, not 100% sure if this is true but i'm not taking the risk.

best bet is to get the ones that are always under water even at low tide, was something we always used to make sure over east, that way they arent exposed at all

they have to be fully under water at all times. These ones I caught are from around the Bicton Baths area like Adam said. There are so many XL ones to get and they taste great. Heaps of skippy and herring and silver bream and yes, blowies too when I rip them off and give "em a clean under water. ..........Feel the force.........
