Have used them a fair bit. Good solid hook, never had a drama. 8/0-9/0 good north bottom bouncing hook if you want a j hook.

Thanks Brody, exactly what they'll be used for. I ususally use Tarpons but want to mix it up a bit with something chemically sharpened and strong. These seem to look the goods.

 Andy

I have used extensively over all my time living and fishing up north

yet to break one

I'd recommend even the 7/0s as the 8/0-9/0 jump in price

good luck finding them at a decent price they have gone up a fair whack last few years

Tianawana hooks

Mon, 2022-04-04 14:39

Commercial hooks called tianawa we used on a charter to the Montes a few years ago. Bottom bouncing generally, They won't break. Been using them ever since. Hard to get though, a commercial wholesaler in south of river has them. About 58 cents a hook from memory.

Yep, I use Tainawa sz18 a lot and also size 20/22 sometimes up north. If they are used properly, nothing beats them but they are not for everyone though.

Yeah I saw those hooks on a charter out of Mandurah once, I was told they were good but just wasn't a fan of the shape.

Tainawa hooks

They are great hooks Andy. Imo the small gape doesn't make them the best shaped hook to use with larger slab or thick baits if that's your preference.

 That's probably part of it

Mon, 2022-04-04 20:09

That's probably part of it Alan, we use a lot of fresh bait up there and fairly  big slabs.

I've given up using Vexxed meat jigs up north as the sharks love em. So it's Plastics or bait.
