Yeah, Shorty on here also has one, so we will team up for a few trips.I have already a Rotto trip planned in the next month or so!

I have an EPIRB fully registered to my vessel, and all the other safety gear, but a VHF is next on the list.

When you change direction,

Mon, 2010-01-04 21:24

When you change direction, say left to right, do you have to do a 270 degree turn?  Or will she change tack simply by turning90 degrees?

Did the instructions have any warnings of it pitch poling? (bow digging in and flipping over)

Sure looks like a fun toy!

The way you dragged it up the beach makes it look real light.

Ahh, no a 90' turn works

Mon, 2010-01-04 21:33

Ahh, no a 90' turn works fine. PitchPoling has never been achieved with one, as they are too bouyant with the outriggers. It cruises at about 8-14km/h so probably doesn't get enough speed either.

It is light, probably around 50-60kg fully rigged i'd guess?

You can get electric motors

Mon, 2010-01-04 22:30

You can get electric motors either one that fits on the rudder or one that slots into the peddle drive area,,so you can peddle/paddle/motor or sail them,,,,,

Be interesting to see what happens with the tandem for price. The current outfitter (two mirage drives), is frequrently for sale really cheap on ebay because people find it just tioo hard to get two people organised at once!

Thanks All!

For the fishability question, the outriggers fold back along the hull for landing the BIG fish, also there are tramps for the ouriggers, which will support up to 100kg roughly.

You can also use it just as the kayak, or even with one hull like this:

A fully, over the top, everything you need setup will cost anywhere up to $6000, tho the basic setup is $4000. Most of the stuff i have, and just need to swap it over from my other yaks.

$6k??? for something to chase whiting and squid???

you can buy a seconhand dinghy in awesome condition for that.

i can not seriously see the point of that. you could have bought one similar, second hand from that dude on the south perth foreshore for about $500.

So true mate!

Tue, 2010-01-05 12:44

Then what would we all do with our "work" time!

The internet is like a sapling, which thrives on a steady diet of bullshit, growing into a mighty oak!

And for Scotto's benefit..

$6k would buy you a Brand new yak like this one, with Sounder, GPS, EPIRB, all safety gear, rod holders etc etc, whats a second hand dinghy in AWESOME condition with all this worth?

Whiting and squid you say, maybe for bait, never mind the Mackies, Spangoes, Trevally, Sharks, Mulloway, Tailor, and multitudes of Pink Snapper i've personally caught of mine.

$500 would perhaps buy you a second hand POS kayak, but that is all.

You may ask why, any clown can jump in a boat, power out to sea and catch fish mate, Kayak Fishing is a challenge. You hit it on the head yourself in another post:

besides, what ever happened to doing something because it was a bit dangerous anyway? if you take all the danger out of anything, its not nearly as fun. half reason i love diving and spearfishing, is the adrenalin you get from that little niggle in the back of your head, telling you that there could be a big bitey just behind that reef......

The challenge, and the adreneline, lets you know your alive eh!

Thats right Honsu,lol

Well we headed out to the 5 fathom to have a crack at the Dhuie, KG's ,Mackeral etc and it was a successful mornings fishing(from their point of view) for those species which evaded capture,,plenty of wrasse about,,on the way out i had to explain what the seat was for but Albee soon got the hang of it,lol

It was tough going Saturday morning with little or no wind going out but the peddles assisted the trip out,,thanks for a pleasant morning out Albee.
