NANGA STATION
Submitted by OLD BANGA on Sun, 2012-08-26 11:08
I am thinking of booking into Nanga Staion for a fortnight to do a bit of fishing and R & R, any of you guys done any serious fishing off Nanga and have any good advice? I will be taking my 17' stacer, I am aware that the beach fishing is reasonable and that you cannot keep any pink snapper, but any other info would be appreciated.
Cheers
Old Banga!

I havent stayed at Nanga, but
I havent stayed at Nanga, but there seemed to be quite a few negative comments on a 4wd/camping website that I read, mainly to do with poor hygeine and obvious disinterest from management.
This was a year or so ago and things may have improved.
Id consider Cararang or Tamala stations instead

I havent stayed there personally but stopped in at Tamala for info about 2 years back and found very friendly, very helpful and open people there.
And friendly goats for that matter also-a Subaru pulled up after us and a baby goat jumped on the bonnet. After it was chased off it hopped into my ute-it looked just the right size for a couple of camp oven meals but alas wasnt for sale...
Camping prices were pretty bloody good though with plenty of options.
EDIT-camping prices at Tamala not Nanga

Stayed at Nanga a couple of years ago to let a cyclone move on as we were heading back home up here...for what is is worth it did have a nice swimming pool and the camping area was okay along with the camp kitchen. Hot pool disgusting, tennis courts worn out at the time...not rushing back...other suggestions head up a few more hours (say 7) and drop into Lefroy bay if set up for freedom camping. Other wise head further into Denham and base yourself there...have a look at some of the other options in the area...if the wind comes up for a few days boating may not happen..agree with comment above...happy decision time.
