Narrows Choppers

Hey Fishos, after a bunch of reading on here and 4 fishless days under the narrows I've finally caught my first 2 tailor ever =D Caught with a 10g Halco Twisty that someone on here recommended. Both about 40cm.

Also my first time catching a fish on any type of lure =D =D

Ill chuck a pic up in a min

Some other guys also got a nice Mulla, about 2-3ft long

Would have a look around point resolution as well, when I was in Perth there'd be a few show up there around this time of year.

Nah i got them and lost a third a bit before sunset around near where the jet skiis shoot from. all within about a 15 min sesh and in 3 casts haha.

Yeah im going to take the beach rods down and see if a can grab a Mulla tomorrow =D Seems a pretty popular spot atm with a bunch of people setting up either side of the bridge.

What strength line do you need/max drag on the reel for mulla? also what size hook?

Congratulations, first of a species & first on a lure in one night, good stuff. I use my surf outfit for most of my mulla sessions. 25lb fireline exceed, running ball sinker down to swivel then about 1m of 40lb flourocarbon trace. I run two 6/0 or 8/0 owner circles for fillet baits or a single 5/0 to 8/0 for bridle rigged live baits. Most people run a fairly similar rig but most use a heavier trace around 50 or 60lb.

Nice rising tide tonite till bout 11ish there, good luck. I used to fish for mullas a few years back on rising tides but was always at the SW corner and never got lucky, I reckon the SE little beach would be the go, mullas might hang there waitn for food comin throught the bottleneck in the tide.
