The New Boat Cover

Just thought I'd share a few of pics of the new boat cover knocked together by a fishwrecked regular - chris raff.
I'd thought about getting a cover made for a while as I was sick of the amount torn tarps I'd gone thru over the yrs. Knowing Chris is an upholsterer, I'd asked him a couple of times while wetting a line if he could make one. On one of our next trips out when I dropped the hint again he surprised me by saying the canvas was on order and as soon as it arrived we'd be getting stuck into it.
It wasn't until we got "stuck into it" that I realised how much work is actually involved.

He's done a top job and I'm rapt. You'd think he does this all the time yet in fact it was the first time he's made one (doubt it'll be the last). Anyway the pics speak for themselves.
Cheers Raff ya done a top job.

Just thought I'd add that the boat cover is transportable also not just a storage cover.

Do you have issues with your trailer?

I have the same rig, my trailer is a disaster- no matter what I do I can't get the boat on straight, just wondering if you have any issues? Covers great by the way, fits perfect

 Excellent job. It looks like

Excellent job. It looks like heavy material. What fabric did you use? Did you have to put some kind of water phobic spray on it, such as scotch guard, or is the fabric naturally waterproof?

Top job! I dare say you could make a reasonable living from making these. I have been trying to get one for my cc for ages but can't find anything.

Top job, looks the goods for sure. What sort of price would you be looking at to make 1 I have been looking for 1 for my Wellcraft. The store bought ones only seem to last about 18 months before they rot out.

Yes having issues with pics

Sat, 2013-03-30 16:19

Yes having issues with pics as well????
Spitfire no issues with trailer - can only suggest the obvious i.e. put boat on the water and have a good look over to see if the rollers etc are mirror imaged from the centre line or alternatively check boat is weighted/balanced when putting it on the trailer - do you drive it or winch it on? I winch.

I see Chris answered the question re the fabric etc ... from memory Chris it was 8oz canvas, yes?

Re pricing I suggest you contact Chris.
Out of interest I got a quoted $2000 for the boat over (no motor cover)
Simple process if you want to check yourself - involved emailing a pic of the boat and the length and width (google marine trimmers canningvale).
Chris being a good mate, he obviously gave me a good mates rate price but anyway I've no doubt Chris could beat any quote as he doesn't have the overheads the bigger boys have.
Damn shame about the pics not showing up...
