new boat research
Submitted by chriss on Mon, 2012-01-23 20:24
Hey guys I am trying to do some research on boats as im keen to buy my first boat! (cant wait!!)
Anyhow im after something ally hull, atleast 4m or so, newish engine (preferrably), and i dont wanna spend over 10k (as its my first boat and all)
First of all is this possible without buying a lemon?
If so just wondering if anyone has some suggestions as to what type/brand i should look into.
Im only really looking at fishing in the sound and the river but would be great to venture out deeper as i get more experience (if the boat/weather allows).
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated cheers!
Chris

Buy
Find something in your price range that you will not loose to much on when you sell as you get more confident you will want to upgrade if you can't sell you can't buy take someone with you that has some idea about boats but it's always a gamble

I bought my first tinny for 8650 brand spanka. It was a 410 allycraft with a 30 yammy behind it. It was great and we went a long way in it, till the bigger boat came on the scene.

haha i personally wouldnt
haha i personally wouldnt recommend them and they are closing down. I had bad service and warranty dramas from them at both their sites in perth and in busso. I ended up having to call yamaha head office for one of my issues as they couldnt be bothered. I was silly enough to go back to them as thats where my latest boat came from. Not sure on other dealers pricing but i am sure they couldnt be too far off the mark. I was going to buy second hand but thought for what i was going to pay for a second handy i could get brand new and warranty. My best mate bought a Quinny a few years back from estuary marine and had excellent support from them. Hope you have some luck chris. dont hesitate to ask any more infoas i was in your shoes a few years back
Cheers rossco

Speak with Colin at Rockingham boating
Hi Chriss,
I got my first tinny from Rockingham boating (Colin), he was very helpfull and far from a used car salesmen. I was honest and told him I didn't know the first thing about boats but he took me through all I needed to get started. Was on the water, river and sound like you want to in a Quintrex with a honda outboard for 5K plus I had heaps of mods done for it as I'm a spearfishermen as well.
Hope this helps mate.
