New deck, again.
Well that was a mission.
After using a hole saw to dig into a soft spot on the deck uncovered rot and catastrophic delamination in my 3 year old deck, I bit the bullet.
Over the past months, I made a replacement deck out of the boat and consolidated lots of glass and resin. It still wasn't enough but we now have a new deck. 18mm ply with two layers of 600gsm uni directional glass mat on top along with 10 meters of 400gsm thrown in there for good measure.
Also thrown in is 16kg of expandable foam to stiffen the heck out of it. Under the deck we have jarrah on top of the frames glued and glassed. Lots of epoxy glue, q cells, sikaflex and 316 screws.
Instead of carpet, I opted for udek. A kiwi product that I saw in a post by Ranmar. It is denser than Seadek/deckarmour. The Deckarmour rep wouldn't return my calls so no idea the cost there but the Udek cost me $250 for a 2m x 1m sheet. I used 5 so it is a bit more expensive than carpet at 30 per lineal meter...
Anyhoo, she is stiff and solid again with quality timber under the glass. Next year will be time to paint the outside then get her ready to sell.

It's around 100kg based on a rough estimate. The old deck I removed was very heavy along with the waterlogged foam so I guess I took about that much when I did the job last time. The boat was very light and didn't dig a hole so felt every ripple. We took it out today and it is far quieter and feels very solid.
The foam deck gets a bit toasty as opposed to carpet but on the other hand, it dries off very quickly!

Just curious.. Did you paint the underside of the deck both times (now and 3 years ago)?

Yeah mate. Painted with
Yeah mate. Painted with polyester resin on the underside and glasses on the top. In some parts, after I cut pieces out, everything between the outer layers had fallen apart.
Everything is soaked again this time but the wood is far better quality and is actually marked with the manufacturing standard.
Foam packed up to the underside of the timber this time will help avoid the start of any flex and any water ingress.

Well thats the plan! The boat
Well thats the plan! The boat is solid and just needs some beautification so it doesnt look like a work horse.
The plan was for the inside to happen first then the outside though the trailer took precedence. One day I will get to the outside and address the bore water stains from 8 years ago...
