Hey aall just thought I'd drop a quick hello line to you all - long time lurker finally decided to join up. I had a Rinker 270 kept at Kailis but decided it was limiting my fishing to around Rotto to much so have sold her and am awaiting my new boat, a 2007 Boston Whaler 235 from Florida to arrive in Mid May.
Just trying to work out what electronics to fit her out with. Leaning towards a Ray C125, DSM300 and a B124 as not sure if Chirp is worth the extra dollars right now.
Anyway boat's name is 'Reel Livin' so if you see me around, say G'day!
Cheers
Simon

G'day Simon,
Was gonna pop downstairs to have a chat, but can do here! :)
The new tub will be awesome, and christening it up at Shark Bay will be the bomb.
Have a heap of spots for you to try up Turtle way, will definately get them to you in time.
Would love to be able to do the trip with my boat too, will see what happens....
Cheers,
Joe

Electronics
Hi Simon. I tend to "lurk" and learn heaps from others.
I've noticed that everyone has their own favourite electronics and will vehemently defend their choice. I've graduated along the Furuno pathway from 1850 to 3500 to FCV1150 with separate through hull SS264 transducers. Each change has resulted in significant improvement at a significant cost. My mate has gone from Laurence to 585 Furuno to Furuno 295 with a 2KW 50Hz transom transducer. Again with significant improvement and again at significant cost.
I'd suggest you look at your budget and then go out and try them all out to see what suits you. "User friendliness" or otherwise is individually determined.
Whichever you choose the trick is to learn how to use it to its full capacity.
Good luck

Old fart loves his Garmin GPS & Furno colour dual frequency Sounder.
Put the best CB in the 4x4 a Garmin cost a bit $500 fitted, you can't see the set, picks up klms away or more brilliant, well thats my little eletronics in the Land Cruiser, love telling the grey nomads to back off from each others exhaust fumes when over taking

Simon - Welcome to the forum.
Simon - Welcome to the forum. I have a Boston Whaler Conquest (255) from the States. If you have any questions on your boat once its here let me know. I can probably point you in the right direction on how I set mine up to maximise space, ride and use of equipment etc.. Cheers - John

G'day Buttnekid
Welcome to FW, look forward to your posts and reports. Be sure to post some pics of your new tub when it arrives.
May I suggest that you fill in your profile, that way members here can get a feel for your type of fishing, your general location, etc.
