what's the budget???
what size reel you chasing, 1000 size?
maybe a Daiwa Aird combo as a cheapy, or even the Raider Elf combo? I have a Shimano Sahara 500 with 3lb braid matched to a lox Yoshi 1-3kg rod and is a great combo. The options are endless without a budget, and how often do you plan to use the combo.
to fish or not to fish...as if there was an option.

The symetre is a great reel. Mine has copped a flogging and is still working perfectly. I can highly recommend them.

yeah mine symetre 4000 has
yeah mine symetre 4000 has copped a wicked flogging too, might need a service soon, but going hell strong. But as to your needs Ben, well what about the Shimano Lure Project rods or maybe a Jewel, decent rod for the budget you have and would be suited to reddies and Trout, bream, flatties etc. especially if you wanted to keep it in the Shimano stable of rod and reel combo.
