Well this weekend see's the start of the 2009 V8 season starting at clipsal 500 in Adelaide, so since there is always that FORD holden rivalry i thought i would get in first and say goooooooooooooo FORDS lol

question, do the cars run the same displacement or are the fords 5.4 and the holdens 5.7 ?

Go the Fords
The race cars resemble the road going cars in there shape only.
They both run a 5L push rod V8. They both run the relitivly the same gear box and diff. The bodies are modified so they both have similar down force and keep the lap times as colse as possible. They run the same rubber and have a control engine management unit. Alot of the winning is done by the drivers these days. They try to keep the parity between the two cars as close as possible.

they are so crappy they give the poor among us a chance to buy a near new car really cheaply - if it's cheap you can live with the poor looks and quality. GO HOLDEN!

Used to be ford man (kid)
Used to be ford man (kid) and wear a ford jacket (still have it but no way does it fit) but now I'm driving a commydoor!!! (go both??).
I'm in Adelaide and just over the traffic hassles as a result of the street closures myself (around 3 weeks either side of the race).
wopjrb I think both ford and holdens run their usual V8's and aren't limited to a particular size (not 100% sure though).

still beleive they should make it interesting and open it up to all makes then you might have an interesting race ,especially with gtr skylines etc ford and holdens are so friken boring you need some reel cars like imports, like the the early days when the skylines sieras volvos etc were gettin round far more interesting

they actually already do that, and would defeat the purpose of it being a v8 race, its the ford v's holden that is the buzz and as said they already have other races with the imports racing with holdens and fords so whats the point doubling up
