nitro magnum butt 4-6kg vs t curve bluwater 5 - 10kg

hey guys looking for a new rod, primarily to target big winter tailor land based.

already have a sea jigger 305. so im after something lighter shorter and funner, to toss small poppers and slugs.

are these two rods quite similer? or is the nitro magnum significently lighter in weight of the rod and line class?

as i was pretty well set on the t curve but now im starting to wonder!? would the nitro be more suitable to a 2500-3000 reel?

as the t curve is more suited to a 4000. perhaps i need both haha. any opinions appreciated.

The nitro would suit a 2500-3000 reel better than the t-curve, but i reckon the t-curve is a heaps better rod.

If your just using it for lure fishing for tailor then either rod will be suitable, but it would be a lot funner fighting a fish on the nitro than the t-curve.

Easiest way to solve your problem - get both

Sorry but I disagree to the post above.

To be fair you cant compare a 4-6kg rod to a 5-10kg rod.  They are two different beasts.  One is a great spin stick for light or tailor/salmon and tropics stuff.  The other is a great spin stick for heavier tailor/salmon/tropics and probably demersals down here.  I said both are great but truth be told Im on the nitro pro team and should really be saying one is crap while the other is awesome.  Not that sort of person tho.

You need to get into a store that carries both rods and feel them side by side.

I use my magnum butt with a 4000 stradic and 9kg braid.  Even though the nitro might be rated 4-6kg I fish all of them heavy.  My magnum butt has nailed coral trout, baldchin, tuna, spangled emperor, trevally, small sharks, queenfish, cod and tailor.  All on 9kg quite often with the drag as close to locked as I can get without a pair of pliers.  Its my rod of choice for snapper fishing down here too.  I think it will stop any tailor you want to catch and cast all the lures you want to cast.

The nitro also comes with a great no questions asked lifetime insurance policy if you break it.

If your worried about it not being big enough, then they also make a heavier model, the viper which is rated 6-8kg.  I fish my viper with a stella 5000SW and 40lb accudepth braid- more than twice its rating.  Its my go to spangled emperor outfit in exmouth and Ive nailed a big chinaman on it, again locked that drag up and gave him hell.  Down here its my dhuie/demersal plastics rod when Im in rough ground.  For tailor though personally its a bit of an overkill.

The T curve is probably a great rod, and while I may have felt it in store, I havent fished it so cant give a report on it.

But like I said, go into the store and have a feel of the rods before you make assumptions.

For shore based tailor; I reckon you'd still be better off with a bit more length. I used to use a nitro, but then switched to a (longer) Lemax President 8' (4-8Kg i think) it's great for getting that extra bit of distance. matched up with a 4k stella 10lb line is a great tailor outfit....

.....Until my mate bought a Black Hole rod from Bluewater.......man - that rod is awesome ! - still rated fairly light (4-8Kg) - but is so light and casts a mile. 9' 2pc - check them out -  I'm definitely getting one !!

7'6 rod is longer so of course its going to be tip heavy with a lighter reel.  4000 reel suits the mag butt perfect.
