Isn't carbon fibre brittle?

Sat, 2011-03-19 10:57

Will be interesting to see how durable it is.

My plastic carmate rod case has deep grazes on one of the ends where it looks like it hit the tarmac!

Thats graphite.Carbon fibre

Thats graphite.

Carbon fibre is a composite material, contains graphite and another polymer (epoxy/kevlar/fibreglass).

It is very strong!! That is why supercars like this lambo is made entirely out of it!

It'll be nice if they had some sort of locking mechanism on it so only you and only YOU can access your rods :)

Can't imagine it would look quite as nice once the baggage handlers have had their way with it a few times!!

My Plano airliner doesn't look as pretty but does the job for me.

They are a brutal bunch, must say my SW Lab bag survived the Qantas routine but can't say the same for my golf clubs. I think those fragile stickers are a red rag to a bull
