Out From Albany
G'DAY EVERYONE,
Headed down to Albany over xmas to see the rellies and had some fun days out on the brother in laws boat.We bagged some good Queen Snapper with the biggest going to the in law at 75cm.we also bagged some nice breaksea with the biggest just shy of 50cm. We only headed about 10 mins from the boat ramp and fished around the 35- 40 mtre mark.
Here are some snaps from the Couple of days
NIce queenie,
Loaded up on another queenie
the result..
breaksea cod.
was'nt really sure what this fish was but it liked the Lukanus jig
Even caught a John Dory (which was a first time capture for me)and was pretty stoked to get it on the jig.
I probaby pulled more fish on the jig than the boys using bait so will be sure to give it another bash next time!
Tasted absolutly beautiful...
Well it was a good couple of days fishing annd can't wait to get back down next week to explore some more territory
Cheers

Hi Ya,
Looks like you had a nice day out.
That fish you are being very careful with looks very much like a Westen Blue Devil Fish. They are the most amazing deep blue I have ever seen and have irredescent light blue dots on them - at least the one my brother caught did. We also didn't know what it was so was very careful with it to. We released it. A check of the ID book later that day revealed what it was and listed it's rating for eating as being equal to that of KG's. But I don't know. We both wished we could have put it ina aquarium. Very beautiful fish.
they are quite harmless.
Cheers.

Thanks for the id on the fish ody and fishoreub. My brother in law said he thought thats what it was.My fish id book only had a eastern blue devil in it which looks slightly different. As you say they look like they belong in a fish tank than on a dinner plate ..

G'day Colin
We went out on Boxing day and the Saturday after that..From two peoples..
Boxing day turned out to be a pearler out that way with a WSW breeze Most of the day.The Saturday was a bit sloppy and not so productive but still good fun.

Cheers Chris!
Good idea in not using Emu Point - Boxing Day would have been a dog's breakfast mate! Many out from 2Peoples?

Went out of Emu Point on Boxing day
It was chockers, having just moved down here from Perth I am loving it. Went out on Tuesday for three hours and caught 4 big KG'S, some herring, a baby flathead, heaps of sized Skippy and even a baby Port Jackson Shark.
I am loving it down here and can't believe how much better the quality of fishing is down here compared to Perth.
24 degrees down here today and 39 in Perth, you can keep that hot weather, us POMS like it COOL

Yeah Tango
The fishing is good and will only get better as your knowledge of the area gets better. If you can get to a couple of the boat ramps out of town u will find the fishing even better. As long as you don't mind a beach launch.
Also watch the sun in Albany..it might be coooler but it will cook you faster than the sun in perth..(if thats possible) I found out the hard way!

Tango...Chrisp
us POMS like it COOL - you DEFINATELY GOT THAT RIGHT MATE - any time you want to double up or go out in yours/mine, let me know . Yeah, we won't go anywhere near EP on Boxing Day - complete cluster flick.
Also watch the sun in Albany..it might be coooler but it will cook you faster than the sun in perth - ahhhh I could have warned you about that , I don't think you cook faster, I just think you get lulled into thinking it's not so burny because of the cooler climate and winds. Done that once - not it's BLOCK OUT CITY

Yeah Russ and sandy
We did keep the dory.Tasted awesome fresh..
The photo on the brag mat was from the first day out.
Didnt post the catch from the second day cause it was'nt quite as good with only a 75cm queenie and breaksea and the dory a keeper.
cheers
