out of season salmon

what a great day on the water today .. desided early this morning to get off my ass and go kayak fishing again seeing i could not get enough crew for the big boat ..  so the end result was a heap of bull herring to start the day then as i was peddling around the place i saw a small school of salmon .. so back to my herring spot for some live baits, then back to find the salmon ... found the bit of reef again and flicked out a livie ... opppps .. the school of salmon had gotten much bigger and so had the size of the fish .. after a few hours of getting smoked by salmon in the 6-8kg range (on my herring gear) i finally managed to land a smaller one one as proof :) ... lost about 10 very solid fish that my poor 10lb herring gear just couldnt slow down .. but bloody great fun .. :)

They could be late season closers lamby! They seemed to have disappeared from up here a couple weeks ago, I figured they had headed south due to the water temp

Nice Clint. Would of been great fun in the yak.

Probably lucky you didn't find a decky as you wouldn't have found the salmon.
