At approximately quarter time today, with the Pies down by 5 1/2 goals Paully posted a thread titled 'Anzac Day' in which he stated how much he loved the games being played this round and the pending results.
When I checked back at three quarter time the thread title and content had been replaced by a full stop. Coincidentally the Pies were in front and on top at this stage. When I questioned him about he said he deleted it because uncle already had a footy thread started about this round. Please!

4 points is better on Collingwood's tally than on some other teams regardless on how shabby the game looked.
Seems like you can do 3 full turns and handball while being tackled now without being penalised, or is that only from my view of it

well, I din't think so - I cant remember when I last watched the ANZAC one and thought it was shabby - you may have seen it differently. In my thread earlier i actually posed the question - Is there a better game/round of football outside of the finals - I dont think so. I have one very happy wife ;)
Edit: They definently appear to have relaxed the holding the ball rule - I think Ive seen that in every game of every round to date.

Dockers were about as bad
Dockers were about as bad tonight as collingwood round one, but at least we only got beaten by a margin much much less then 70 points... see we still have a defence and we still have a midfield. It was a piss poor performance purely because (paully, take note....) our delivery into the forward fifty sucked. And then when it got there we only had one quality forward and he was taking on two or three opponents. I hold Ballaz responsible for that. The defence stood up. The midfield squared the ledger, the ball went forward..... and the roos rebounded....

Heard an interesting thing on the radio how Lyons game plan ended up wearing out a lot of the St Kilda players, those same guys who are now playing great football again at several clubs.
I reckon Lyon's starting to have the same effect on Freo. One can only hope.
BTW, our power forward has had a quiet start to the year and we're doing well. Your's on the other is the only bloke kicking them at Freo and you're struggling. No powder puff easy draw for your boys this year Randall.

I had missed all these, my apologies.
Let's see. Pav hasn't actually kicked a lot of goals this year, particularly in our wins. That is part of our problem. We get too pav centric when we dont have other scoring options. We actually won alot of our games last year without pav and without sandilands. Our biggest problem right now is a lack of options up front. I never like to blame injuries but barlow and walters have hurt us on top of bradley, griffen, and gumbleton. Mayne is either injured or badly out of form. I do blame suspensions. Ballaz and Silvia have let us down. Sylvia especially because he should be available for selection to replace injured players.
Anyway....
Anywhere, anyone, anytime.
Lots of reasons, but ultimately, no excuses. Right now we're not living up to expectations.
