Perth kings and sambos

Hey fellas first time poster on here been following for a while. I've recently picked up my first boat and went for the Whittley Sea legend. Shes been out a couple of times before the ban kicked in and have picked up a few nice fish out from more river and havnt had the chance to explore new ground closer to home. I'm local around ththe oceanreef hillaries mindarie areas.im currently running a lowrance 5 first gen and cant pick anything up if I'm going more than 7knots. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with some pointers in the right direction to find some sambos.they are all catch and release but was hoping to get out on the weekend to chase a few. Cheers for any info I could even exchange for a day out on the blue.

Couple of photos of the rig I've picked up

The kingies will be anywhere

The kingies will be anywhere water is breaking over the reef. Staggies main break is a good place to start. Try to find birds anywhere along the 3 mile reef and the kings wont be too far away. Don’t get caught out too close to the breakers, i've had a few close calls over time. Kingies can be temperamental so you might need to try a few different methods to make them bight. Out wide north west from staggies is the gemini wreck which is pretty popular for sambos.

Regarding your sounder not

Regarding your sounder not reading at more than 7 knots. Have you got a pic of your transducer? May be related to its location/position.

Looks like you might be out of adjustment but I'd be lowering the tranny.

 Everybody complains about

Everybody complains about sounder not reading at speed.

While its not ideal as a mostly dingi fisherman you can still cover a shit load of ground at 7knots.

If you don't mind trolling and killing a few hours a few times while the ban is on that is.
