phone / car nav /gps combo recommendation

time to buy a new phone what would you recommend if i wanted the phone to be decent car nav and gps capable of allowing me to enter in a gps mark and guide me there as well as saving any great marks i come across whilst searching for good ground. What apps would i need to download and approx cost or is this functionality built into the devices nowadays?

cheers OldSalt

I'm using an iphone 4s with a Metroview app ($13?) as my car nav. It's really good and tons better than the tomtom app. Free updates and the voice instructions are really good.

mate,

i just got an iphone, (upgraded from an old e52, basic phone with no fancy shit). worst thing i have ever done....

i phones are the biggest heap of junk out, my oldie used to last 3+ days on a single charge..iphone less than 12hrs...

if you dont lock it instantly, your ringing someone you dont want to..

goes on and on and on.....they are shit.

keep the tom tom and a basic phone, you will not regret it.

if you want apps and the like, get a tablet!!!

phone should be a phone and thats it!!

not running stuff all mate! and its brand new, less than 4 weeks old.

we have 3 i phones in my house and all 3 will not last more than a day on a full charge.

i use my phone alot during the day for work so its harder for me to tell, not happy at all with it.

its not far from getting run over by my truck by accident!!!

Haha, talking does chew the battery but one day isn't good enough. Try double pressing the center button then hold your finger on any of the apps on the bottom, then once they start shaking press the cross to cancel them all, having them open can drain. Also charge from empty to full, althoght it sounds like your doing that. Some people say lith batteries don't have memory but I think it makes a big difference. If all else fails resort to the truck idea.
