3 people on the boat, 6 lines

Tue, 2015-08-25 03:44

3 people on the boat, 6 lines in the water, 6 lines go off and only one landed 5 lost to sharks.

If you dont want to lose pinks to the sharks in Cockburn, and want to "fish for the future" then best not go for the pinks this time of the year.

without prejudice,

that's not really the right kind of attitude walfootrot.

if word is getting to fisheries (and believe me, they are reading this right now), that blokes are loosing 4 Cockburn pinks to sharks, to every 1 pink landed, how long do you think it'll take them to bring the snapper ban in earlier, or shut it down altogether?

they've been talking about this on 882 6pr a fair bit of late, and all parties (recfishwest, fisheries, pros, john. q. public, etc) agree that the last few years have been some of the best pink snapper fishing in Cockburn for decades, and its a direct result of bans, closures, and excellent management. they wont hesitate to enforce rule changes to suit what is going on (getting repeatedly sharked), if they get wind that its getting raped, or people aren't being proactive on their own accord. they have certainly done it before.

Thanks for the report on sharks.

Will be mindful when we go out later in the week.

Johnny, are they started moving in numbers or still patchy (Pinks)?

mate, I love reading your posts. I'm always well impressed with your and your boys efforts and catches - big dhu bangers, pinkies, mullas, crays, occys, and more, but...

I have to agree with others above. if you've let sharks nail 12 pinkies, and you keep trying to catch them, then that's not cool at all, whether its within the rule book or not.

my personal opinion is you probably should've moved after the first or 2nd sharking.

just my opinion, and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, or stop posting your pics.

Sometimes they disappear as quick as they come. Cost more in rigs trust me. That's nature. And yes megladon Cockburn. Hope white eats bronzes. Then all we need is killer whales to eat whites

Top as usual guys, and yeah

Wed, 2015-08-26 09:51

Top as usual guys, and yeah the sharks are bloody quick to get a sniff. We trolled up two Yellow fin up north last week and while landing the second one I could see a shark below so got him out the water real quick for a release. If we are fishing up there and catch one we move straight away as they will just destroy anything you catch.
