Planning help for Warroora.....
Submitted by beachsoul on Thu, 2013-06-20 04:14
Thinking about heading to Warrooa in Sept for a fishing / surfing trip. I normally head North earlier (May) and stay at Gnaraloo..
..but this year things got busy so I need to go later.
I have,nt been to Warroora before so some help on where to camp, launch etc would be greatly appreciated
- What is the beach launching like at the various launch sites available. We will be launching a 3.9 tinnie with a 30hp on the back....
- I would like a little bit of peace where i camp. Not in the middle of a tent city. So where to camp
- What are the winds generally like at that time of year
- Are their plenty of fish around then

G'day, I think the best
G'day, I think the best surfing spots are at the southern end of the station, Stevens, Lagoon etc. Print off a mudmap from their website.
Can get a bit windier in sept but still really nice...good beach launching at sandy point and 14 mile, grey nomads should be gone by then.

try the lagoon
Was up at there early october last year. winds were normally light in the morning pretty strong around midday and then faded again in the arvo.
stayed at the lagoon with only one other camper nearby so was really good. didnt have a boat but the other guys camping were launching from there and surfing south at the point. seemed if you have confidence in your ability with a boat your size you should be right. caught heaps of fish (snappers, trevellys) landbased mainly using baits, didnt have much luck on lures unfortunatley. mainly surfed at stevens which was good fun most of the time about 20min drive from the lagoon

Just got back from
Just got back from waroorra.
All sites, all spots are pretty well spaced out, you wont feel cramped.
No worries launching anywhere.
Lagoon better for Surfing, nothing north of there.
