Yeh man i hear ya, i have a lemax president royal 6'6 rated at 50gm cast weight line is 8-25lb i reckon its a pretty sweet rod for the price, got it for $90-100 blank is pretty awesome for the price, its my rod for squidding and i love it lol.
Edit: have hooked up to 3-4kg buffies and trying to horse them out from rocks and it handled it fine running 3kg drag.

Marco, seems snapping rods is catching......I snapped my young blokes Salty Fighter on Saturday arvo.......a jig head on my Tierra rod came loose in the rod rack, and wrapped around both rods...apparenlty, the Tierra is stronger than the Salty......
I will retip the Salty, it will be now 5 inches shorter and rated PE2-3 insead of PE0.8-2....hahaha.....my young bloke will never know.

marko, check out the saltist
marko, check out the saltist bay rubber rod. It feels light for a pe3 rod, but nice. You won't really find a 'soft plastic' rod that can work 4oz. A bay rubber or light jig rod will be better.

Marco, Daz still looking for
Marco, Daz still looking for a rod I believe. The bay rubber was nice, but probably only good for lighter than 2 oz, but almost all your plastic work will be lighter than that i would have thought Hard to get a rod that will do 1/2 all the way to 2 oz....for 4 oz in the deep (eg Jurien) why not just use one of your light-medium jig outfits.
I have settled on staying with my 7ft 8-17 lb Tierra for the time being, but will take my 6 ft ultra light T-curve herring next time, as the light rods are fun to use and can still knock over some decent fish.
