Platinum Boating Maintenance

As anybody used this company to have their outboard motor serviced. Just recently bought a boat and it as been serviced by All Boat, who charge way too much, by the recipts i have. My motor as only done 120 hours, and had a 100 hour service in May 2010. Is it really worth having it serviced again so soon??

Any advise would be appreciated.

I have exactly the same motor and there is no way you would need a service already. My motor only ever needs a oil change every now and then and is going like brand new still and never had a problem with it what so ever since i bought it brand new in 2003

If thats the right date, I would get it serviced, 20 hours in 19 months means it be sitting a long time with little use. Would be money well spent I reckon.

Agreed

I would definitely get it serviced if it has been that long. Doesnt matter how many hours the motor has done, the oil being a four stroke, has been breaking down since it was put in. I am suprised what you said about Allboats, I have recently had work done by Quentin and found their costs quite reasonable. Especially, since they fixed the problem and the motor is now very strong and reliable.

Just a quick correction, oil

Just a quick correction, oil does not break down it gets contaminated with blow-by,( Fuel/carbon) and only with use does this happen. I would say that parts like impeller should be the things that need attention before an oil change on a motor that has been sitting idle as rubber will break down and deform.
