Please Help - Saturday fishing trip

 Hi all,

My name is Tim and ive been a fishwrecked member for around 3 years now. After a recent 7 month trip to QLD im back in the waters of WA and keen to get the tub wet on saturday. I cant find my gps and was after some direction around garden island. The boat im taking out is a 4.5m centre console plate with a 50hp yammy fourstroke. I was looking at heading around the top end of garden island and carnac island or 5FB. I live at secret harbour and not familiar with the local ramps.  Im not after your gps marks or spots but am chasing some local knowledge and fisherman to fisherman friendly tips and tricks to catch some fish. I am very greatful for all advice and will be doing a report saturday afternoon.

Thank you in advance

Tim

For Bait

For some fresh bait try drifting over the Parmelia Bank on the way out from Woodman Point for some fresh squid...

The north end can be a dodgy

The north end can be a dodgy area without a gps/map, lots of reef and bombies just under the surface. Theres a bombie on ffb wsw of north garden island called casuarina shoal that can get quite shallow but with the forecasted swell it shouldnt pose a problem. I'd reccomend heading out after sunrise at least so you can see the dangers.
Anchor and burley on the back of ffb where the reef starts to break off and is quite patchy ground for snapper, skippy, sambos and maybe a dhu

Navionics app for phone?

$14 for android last time I looked.  Charts, depths, markers etc.  Mine has spots where other fishers have saved marks with a fish icon that tells you depth and brief info.  Used to use it prior to having chartplotter and good as a backup.

 If ur after small species

If ur after small species just anchor and burley over the weed east of Carnac. Sift through the butterfish and trumpies and you'll score herring, the odd kg and anything else that may come along. Or has been suggested drift the weed beds (visible) for squid. Saturday will be like peak hr on a friday before a long weekend so look for the boats!

you would be better putting in at point peron ramp and heading straight out to ffb and burley up. you should get a feed and have some fun. just get to the ramp early, it gets packed on weekends. also the closest ramp to you would be port kennedy.
