Preferred tow point on pirates

Just wondering which tow points people prefer while using the pirates for demersals? I've had more success tying onto the skinny end, but the daiwa website says the middle eye for demersal. Your thoughts?

if I am working the jig fast

if I am working the jig fast then I will tie onto the skinny end, I normally work them pretty slow so tie onto the end with the eyes. Give it a bit more action on the drop

I have always tied on at the end with the eyes also, i have found this works for me... However

I was going to post something similar today regarding Pirates today in a separate post but may as well raise the question here (sorry to hijack the thread)...

I have noticed that with a couple of my hookups the fish been hooked on the top of the head, rather than in the mouth of the fish. I have the pirate tied on at the end with the eyes, and the split ring / assist hooks connected here too.

Has anyone come across anything similar or have any suggestion to get a better hookup rate? Maybe to place the assist hooks on the middle or the bottom?

I could be wrong, but my thoughts are that the fish are possibly hitting the lure on the way down and the assist hooks float above the lure when it is sinking (because of where i have them connected)... any thoughts or feedback on that?

really interested in these

really interested in these questions. bought 4 different pirates today and a rod reel set up yesterday to get into jigging a bit more and leave the bait behind. searched and read as much info as possible, but when it came to setting up my gear ready for the morning I had the same questions myself. Middle or top? from what I have read I think I'll try middle due to a few people saying slower jigging technique for dhues. Fair chance I'll be changing things around a bit tho. Fingers crossed it all works and I have some luck.
